Interview with “Model Turned Superstar” host April Scott
Tell us a little about yourself?
I grew up on a small farm in southeast, Missouri. I graduated with a degree in Theater and moved to Los Angeles to pursue my dreams of becoming an actress. I’m best known for playing, Daisy Duke, in the Warner Brother’s film, “Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning.”
How did you get started in the entertainment business?
After moving to LA, I mailed out pics and resumes and found an acting agent within the first week– which was a really lucky break! A few months later, I was approached by a modeling agent to join their agency. I pursued modeling and acting simultaneously. I was working as a model on the TV show, “Deal or No Deal,” when I booked by first movie role, as Daisy Duke, in the Warner Brother’s film, “Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning.”
Do you ever get nervous?
Absolutely, I think whenever you do something new, challenging, or put yourself on the line that will naturally bring with it a certain amount of nerves. The challenge is having enough confidence in your abilities to manage that stress. Which comes from experience and believing in yourself.
Favorite movie or TV series?
Lately I’ve been obsessed with MSNBC’s “SharkTank.” I have a huge interest in business and start ups, and I have a lot of respect for people who come up with inventive products and build them into empires.
With a background working on big name series like “CSI, ”“Entourage,” “The Shield,” and, “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” what kind of project you like the most, and how did you get into big shows like these ones?
I would say that CSI Miami was my favorite TV show to work on. The plotlines were really exciting, and I got to do my own stunts. I worked with flying harnesses, racing car stunts with Lamborghini’s, and stage combat. I remember I got to break a Champagne bottle over this Cuban drug lord’s head once– that was fantastic!
What did you buy with your first big check?
I bought myself a car– a Range Rover.
What’s next for April Scott?
I just completed a dark western film called “For Blood,” with Writer- Director, Chadwick Pelletier and Co-Director John T. Connor. There is a lot of poker playing, fighting, and like the title says — blood! My character is, “Lady Blade” and I performed multiple knife stunts. I learned how to spin knives in my hands, throw knives, and I even stabbed a guy’s hand through a table. I was taught by knife and weapon’s expert Dave Baker from the Hollywood Combat Center. It was great experience. It’s coming out next year.
We heard the news that you’re hosting “Model Turned Superstar”? How did you get here, and what do you think about the show?
“Model Turned Superstar” is an awesome show! It’s like “America’s Top Model,” meets “The Amazing Race.” They are giving away a million dollars to the winner! I started working on the show a year ago and we have filmed all over the world. Dubai, Bahamas, Hong-Kong, Thailand, Bora Bora, Mexico, and then our finale was filmed in LA. We have really exciting challenges like riding elephants in the jungle, we swam with sharks, and zip-lined through the rain forest! And each episode is packed with great celebrity guests and judges. I love being a part of the show!
How is working with Andy Khawaja?
He’s a phenomenal producer. He took his vision for the show and pursued it 100%. Andy and his production team are constantly working to find the most amazing locations in the world to film, and the challenges that they come up with for the models are so inventive. We are literally shooting in the most beautiful places on earth. We’ve had our own private islands, private villas, full house staffs, and personal chef’s. It’s a such a first class production!
How did you start modeling?
I was approached by a modeling agent on the street in LA. I signed with their agency and they helped me build my portfolio and start working.

Tell us a little about “Model Turned Superstar.”
The show is about competition, talent, and beauty for models to see if they have what it takes to be a superstar. We shoot in exotic locations around the world with a new set of around 15 models each time. The top 3 are selected to compete in the finale, which is shot in Beverly Hills. The winner of the finale will receive $1 million and a role in a Hollywood movie to make her a “Model Turned Superstar.”
How did you get involved with this show?
I travel the world and have many friends that are models from all over. I noticed they are not given a fair chance and are often taken advantage of in their profession. I wanted to give them a shot at becoming a millionaire superstar and change their lives publicly, while making it entertaining at the same time.
We know you’re a very busy person, but how much did you get involved in this project?
I am very hands on and involved with the show, and on set every day we are shooting.
How is it working with beautiful and talented fashion icons like Alessandra Ambrosio, Irina Sheik, and Ana Barros?
They are great supermodels with easy going personalities, and we are very happy to have them as part of the show.
Any future plans that you wish to share with us?
I am taking Allied Wallet public in the next 18 months.
Do you have kids? If so, what is the best advice you have for them?
Yes, I have one young boy. The best advice is to follow in his father’s steps.

An old used Isuzu, now I have a Rolls Royce Ghost, Ferrari California, and a Mercedes G550.
