I was so excited to be given the opportunity to go and see Odysseo, after driving past the huge white tents and banners for the last couple of weeks, I knew that I couldn’t miss it.
As we took our seats I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, I kind of envisioned a Cirque de Soleil style show with the added bonus of beautiful horses and wow I was not disappointed!
From the moment we sat down I knew that we were in for something special with the beautiful stage setting and vast indoor trees whilst dreamy live music was played from up above.
Just imagine a fantasy like concoction of horses, gymnastics, dancing and music inspired from cultures all over the world.
The horses are so beautiful they really do take your breath away, it’s magical watching them all move together with the music and the ever changing back drops. The skill of the acrobats in addition to this is so impressive and their ability to handle and work with the animals is a joy to watch. There are definitely some white knuckle moments as various performers demonstrate their skills on the horses one by one, which is great fun for the crowd and really gets the energy going!
My highlight from the show had to be where the stage floor filled with water whilst a video showing a cascading waterfall played in the background. The scene begins with a dressage demonstration then gradually more and more horses and riders fill the stage and run through the water – it is honestly like something from a movie.
I cannot recommend this amazing production enough – the attention to detail and dedication of the performers is clear to see and will leave you feeling inspired!
