I grew up with my grandmother who loves fashion. I was vision impaired until I was 37 and was often teased as a child so I stayed at home with my grandmother. She would ask me to watch her make patterns and sew dresses for herself and me and my sister. We were already twinning before twinning was a trend! The highlight of my day as a child is waiting for her to step out of her room to see what she’s wearing. She is the most stylish housewife I know, my true fashion icon, so I wanted to share to other women my take on fashion, as well as how a modern woman should dress up.
What’s different from Pia Gladys Perey fashion to other designers?
PGP believes in highlighting the female form through folds and drapes. We believe in the classics not being over the top. It is not about the dress, it is about the woman wearing the dress. PGP helps a woman to her true natural beautiful self.
A woman should celebrate her femininity and embrace her strength. There is nothing more beautiful than a woman who is aware of herself and is not afraid to take on the world. In the modern world where our rights are recognized but still questioned, I think it is very important that we move forward with no fear of criticism or judgment.
Tell us about some of your PGP muses?
The PGP lady is versatile and makes sure that her presence is felt in a subtle way. She is not too fussed about the current and focuses more on how she can make her mark on a more permanent basis. I think this brand philosophy is reflected on celebrities who favours our label, women like Angelina Jolie, Petra Nemcova, Demi Lovato and Courtney Lopez. These are remarkable women who do their best in making a difference through their work and their advocacies.
How important is Fashion for Pia Gladys?
Fashion is the one of the best way of self-expression. Although I believe that people should focus more on being stylish than being fashionable. Fashion can be too trendy and could be fleeting, Style however, is a way of distinguishing yourself from the crowd.
These days we have more and more Female designers. What’s your thoughts about that?
I cannot emphasize enough how happy I am about this. I believe a female designer understands more what a woman needs, we understand the feelings other women go through, the different phases in our lives – from being a teenager, to a bad hair day, motherhood and making a career while juggling so many things. We understand that our wardrobe should be stylish yet functional at the same time.
How do you manage to balance your busy life and work?
I believe this is when priority comes in. I love my job and I cannot imagine being without it but I will never let it fully own me. Being a mother of 4 has taught me that career opportunities will come to you morethan once if it is really meant for you. However, moments with family (and friends) can never be taken back or repeated. It is admirable to work for a living and be passionate of ones career, however, we also should not forget that life have different facets, each one of them should be given importance.
Tell us a little bit about how your business has grow?
Nothing that is of great character, success, and strength is achieved overnight. I am quite an impatient person but I have learned that yes, we have to look for opportunities in every possible way, but it is also important that we acknowledge the fact that the world knows when we are ready. Before growth I think a businessman must develop and perfect and fully believe in their product first, everything else will follow after that. It is a chain reaction, the law of attraction.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
