[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”21262″ img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]Our interview with talented Author and Business Coach Stormy Wellington. Coach Stormy has literally traveled the world helping thousands resonate inner peace and wealth and built the Wellington House in Africa. In her book, The Quiet Storm, she shares how her mother wanted to abort her and she was even named “Stormy” because her mother felt that it captured her pregnancy. What a way to begin – but as it has been said, “it is not how you start but how you finish.”
At 35 years of age, Stormy is definitely a mark of distinction and extraordinaire of her time. Coming from humble beginnings, Wellington started her journey as an orphan; in and out of foster homes, found herself caught up in the street life. It didn’t seem like Stormy had any kind of path to success. But even in the midst of that life, Stormy had a dream. Inside she knew she would rise above it all and was determined never to be a product of that environment.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”21261″ img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]Describe yourself in 3 words?
BOLD, Faithful and Fearless
Who was your role model as a child?
So my role model situation as a child was different. I used to tell my mom she was my role model in multiple ways. 1. I wanted to take on her hustle and fearless ambitious spirit…My mom was a drug dealer you know. I didn’t want to do illegal things and go to jail but I admired my mom’s ambitious spirit.
How did you get started working as a Business Coach and an Author?
Well once I got involved in the industry of network marketing and direct sales, it left me with no choice but to understand people. I understand its only based upon growing people, you grow people they grow the business. I had to grow in order to grow my business and then I realized I had a story to tell, and a great way to tell your story is authoring your own book. I had no choice but to learn how to really write in order to tell my story, in which I felt like the world needed to hear.
How has this experience changed your life?
It changed my life because people’s expectations of me are high, like I cant afford to fail, fall off, quit and or get discouraged the things that normal people can do, I cant do because I have a whole world of people who I don’t even know that’s inspired by me and my story. In terms of being an author more people want to hear more from me. You write one book, you write two books they are always on the edge of their seat waiting for the next. People are constantly waiting on you to do more.
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
The most rewarding part is celebrating the success of the people I know and serve. Hearing their stories and seeing what they are able to do because of what I may have contributed to their life, is very rewarding for me. I feel a sense of gratitude knowing I made a contribution to someone else’s life.
How do you manage your busy work life and a family?
Honestly I use the WIN formula “What’s Important Now”. I believe that we make time for what we want to make time for, so I learned how to decompartmentalize my life on what’s important today. I pay attention to how I am feeling and I learned how to not allow other people to dictate my moods. I used to feel guilty on why I didn’t do this and why I didn’t do that, so now I focus on what’s more important to do what I need to do to get where I am going.
Now tell us about your book “The Quiet Storm”? And where we can buy it?
The Quiet Storm is memoir of some highlights of my life, up until about the age of 31. You can find it at stormywellington.com. I share a lot of what I’ve been through, “they know the glory but they just don’t know the story”. From credit card scamming, to stripping to dropping out of school in 9th grade to having my first child at 15 to being in foster care, you name it and then to becoming a millionaire before I turned 30.
What other projects have you been part of?
I’ve been apart of reality shows Amateur Millionaires Club, Dennis Kimbro wrote about me in A Black Choice, I’ve been on CNN talking about the industry of direct sales, and I have a new book coming out later this year.
Biggest beauty inspiration? Why?
My biggest beauty inspiration right now would be Total Life Changes, we have a product called Nutra Burst that helps me stay energized, and helps me keep my weight down and stay focused. Its a liquid vitamin and I have to have it everyday.
How is a normal day in your life?
Well I love to workout so when I wake up the first thing I want to do after my morning inspiration call, is go to the gym. I like working out for my mind and my body gets the benefits as well. Then I have a nice smoothie and my phone is ringing off the hook with business partners calling for guidance and helping to elevate them. I work closely with the owner of my company on some new things, since he has a lot of vision for the company. You can always find me at the airport at least two times a week minimum.
What is your idea of a perfect Sunday?
A perfect Sunday, breakfast. I don’t necessarily have to go to church, I can watch Bishop TD Jakes online. Laying in the bed a little later than normal. I like quiet time. So if I can stay at home and lay in the bed and not have to answer a million calls, then that is the perfect Sunday for me.
Best advice ever given?
The best advice ever given to me would be “things don’t happen to you, things happen for you”. Start looking at things in life differently, versus feeling like a victim to a situation. Ask yourself what is it that I am supposed to gain from that. There is a blessing in every lesson.
Name 3 things you can’t live without?
Oh My God…. I can not live without my cell phone, nutraburst, and Iaso Tea.
Any plans for 2017 that you want to share with us?
Continue to grow and elevate. My new book is coming, I believe that things come spontaneous to you, and you have to be open to receive it. Between Oprah or Bishop TD Jakes somebody is coming for me. One of them are coming to get me because the world needs to know more about overcoming all odds.
Favorite song? Why?
My favorite song would be Closer To My Dreams by Goapele
Do you support any charities?
I support Beyond the Game. An initiative that does a lot of work in Africa. I have an Angel House there, and will be going to visit next month.
What do you think of Social Media?
I think social media is a gift and a curse. I think social media is good for people who use it for what it is intended to be used for. Networking, connecting and business. I don’t like when people pretend to be something or someone that they’re not. Its a little scary, you have to be careful and keep it for what it was intended for….networking.
