Kendall fell in love with dance at just 18 months and she began studying from tap to ballet dance in Pittsburgh for more than 20 hours a week. After landing “Dance Moms,” Kendall and her mom moved to Los Angeles part time allowing Kendall the freedom to let her acting and singing talents shine. Since then, Kendall has toured all over the world and frequently works with various cancer charities, including granting wishes for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”21328″ img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]Hi Kendall please tell us a little about you?
My full name is Kendall K Vertes, my mom named me after a character in a book, my oldest sister inspired me to dance, and I used to play softball and tennis when I was 6.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Three words that describe me would be funny, inspirational, energetic.
When did you start dancing?
My mom tells me that I started dancing as soon as I was out of diapers.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”21330″ img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]Did you take dancing classes?
I started dance classes when I was 2.
What’s it like being on Lifetime’s Dance Moms?
It was hard to get used to all of the cameras following me, and the moms fighting all the time, I would never know what was happening or what to expect from Abby. But now that we are on season 7 and I am much older its like second nature, I forget the cameras are even there!
How did you get on the show?
A producer from the show contacted my mom and they wanted to do a skype call with me, and then they invited me to the open audition in Pittsburgh. I auditioned well, and they liked my mom so we were cast on season two.
Who’s your best friend in the show?
As soon as I started the girls and I bonded really well, but I would have to say Maddie is my best friend. We are the same age and we have the same personalities. I’m so sad she left the show! Kalani and I are really close now.
Any advice for aspiring dancers?
I would say that you are going to have bumps in the road but you can’t give up, don’t let anyone tell you you can’t do something. Put your mind to it and just do it to the best of your ability!
I see my Best friends everyday and basically travel the world with them. I also like that it’s the place where if your having a bad day you can go to dance and just let all of your feelings out.
What type of dance do you like best?
I like all styles, but my favorite is contemporary.
What has been the best thing that has happened to you since being on the show?
I have met lots of amazing people, some famous and some not, but the best thing that has ever happened to me while being on Dance moms would have to be winning a Kids Choice Award. I used to sit home and watch the show and think wouldn’t that be amazing to win one of those.
How does it feel to be really famous and be recognized on the streets?
It’s really cool to know that all these girls look up to me and aspire to be like the girls and me. But sometimes when we have a day off it’s really hard to go somewhere and try to get away and be normal and not have to talk about the show or Abby and take pictures. I wouldn’t change it for the world though.
Do you have a favorite actress or actor that inspires you?
I have a really weird obsession with Tom Cruise because I love all of his action movies and he’s a great actor. I also love Jennifer Lawrence.
What are the five things you can’t live without?
The five things I can’t live without would be my phone, my phone charger, my kitty cat, yummy food, and my family.
What is your favorite song? Why?
My favorite song right now is Final Song.
What is your favorite song to belt out in the car/for karaoke?
It’s called Move by Sia.
Who is you’re role model?
I would love to be an actress like Jenifer Lawrence.
Name one your strengths?
One of my strengths would be that I have a great great memory. I can remember everything from choreography to driving directions.
How do you spend your spare time?
I spend my spare time playing with my pets, riding my golf cart, or hanging out with my friends. Kind of basic, I know.
Any future plans you want to share with us?
Someday I want to move to LA and book movies or TV shows. But for now I am working on new music to be released soon.
What kind of music do you listen to today?
I like to listen to Calvin Harris, and lots of top 40 songs like his.
What hidden talents do you have?
I just discovered that it’s fun to impersonate Britney Spears singing.
How would you describe your style?
I would say my style is trendy and cute, but I also wear clothes that are really comfy and that I can move a lot in because I travel and dance everyday of my life.
Favorite designer?
A lot of my clothes are from Topshop and Brandy Melville.
Where would you like your career to be in the next 5 years?
In five years hopefully I will be living in LA and filming singing and performing in movies or on TV shows.
What do you think of Social Media?
I want people to use social media for good things, and to help people and to inspire people to do good. I think it’s a great way to interact with all of my fans, but you have to be careful too because you never know who you’re talking too.
