Hi Nikki please tell us a little about you?
I have a great appreciation for education and will be a student for life. In addition to being an actress I have a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, have had 4 amateur boxing fights (4-0), I am a pilot (fly a Piper Cherokee Warrior PA28/A), dance Tango, and enjoy good food and drinks with friends.
How did you get started acting?
I’ve had a passion for acting for as long as I can remember. When I was young, I would watch episodes of I LOVE LUCY and hope to be like Lucille Ball one day. So, I was in every school play I could possibly be in, took acting classes, and moved to NYC at 18 to study and give it a go.
How do you prepare for a role?
I gather as much information as possible from the script in order to come up with a perspective for the character. Then it’s all about living in that point of view.
Now tell us about your recent new indie feature film OCCUPY, TEXAS?
OCCUPY, TEXAS is a story about coming of age after the point at which you should have come of age. The lead character starts off as a washed-up Occupier who returns home after the news of his parents’ death to find himself responsible for his two teenage sisters and, as he struggles to overhaul his life, he realizes that the future of his family depends on healing his past.
And about your character?
I play Sherry, the ex-girlfriend of the lead character (Beau) and also the school guidance counselor to his two younger sisters. Sherry has moved on since Beau disappeared and is shocked to see him back in town. She represents something Beau will never get back; the dynamic of their relationship was permanently changed by his actions.
What role would you love to play that you haven’t yet?
I’ve always thought it would be fun to be in an action movie, like to play a female version of Liam Neeson in TAKEN.
What advice would you give to those who want to be in this business?
Study hard, work hard, but remember to have fun and do things that make you happy.
What are the 3 things you can’t live without?
My dog, cat, and good friends
How’s your typical day?
Every day is different!!! It’s awesome.
Idea of a perfect Sunday?
An idea of a perfect Sunday waking up next to my love, walking the dog down the street to a cafe, and eating a toasted everything bagel with cream cheese and tomato while reading the NY Post.
Do you support any charity?
I work part-time at a non-profit called Personal Development Institute.
Something people don’t know about you?
I have a fart machine and have a blast being so inappropriate with it.
What kind of music do you like?
I enjoy most types of music, especially live jazz.
