Check our interview with talented actress Ashley Zamora, who can be seen as Erica Lopez on TV Land’s new series “Lopez.” The semi-autobiographical, single-camera comedy [executive produced by George Lopez] revolves around America’s most successful Hispanic-American comedian, George Lopez [playing himself] and explores how he struggles between his two worlds. Ashley shines as his expressive teenage daughter, who is constantly embarrassed by her dad’s actions, especially as George personally struggles to find his place among the world of race, class and fame.
Ashley’s first break into the industry was a guest star role on FOX’s “Gang Related,” where she played Lourdes, a 17-year-old Mexican victim of human trafficking who had her leg amputated for trying to escape. Ashley went on to book her first series regular role, on “Lopez.”

Describe yourself in 3 words?
Easy-going, honest and motivated.
We’re sure you have been asked this million times but how did you get in the industry?
I got into acting through school plays and the drama club, and eventually landed on the “Lopez” show.
Best advice ever given?
“Work smart, not hard.”
Do you have a role model?
I look up to Meryl Streep because she is always very well-spoken, eloquent and her work is always incredibly thoughtful and beautifully delivered.
What is the best part of acting?
I love being able to take the audience to the new world through the struggles and joys of a character. I also love the impact that it can make on a person.
What roles do you like to play? And why?
I love Glenn Close’s role in Fatal Attraction, and would love to play an intense character like that one.
Tell us about your role as Erica and also about the TV Land’s series “Lopez”?
Erica is George’s 16 year old daughter. She is trying to figure out who she is and what she wants, like many high schoolers. You see her come in with many different types of friends and people as she tries to figure out who she identifies with. She also is sometimes the voice of reason for George and you can sometimes see the kid being the parent. The show is a take on George’s life, where he plays himself as a comedian as he learns to navigate through the confusing new world of media within the industry, with the ultimate goal of landing a residency show in Vegas.
Any future plans you want to share with us?
My plan is to continue to act and broaden my horizons into films and dramatic pieces as well as continuing in comedy. I think it’s always important to be well rounded.
Any loves, other than acting?
I love riding horses, yoga, and traveling.
Name 3 things you can’t live without?
Ice cream, my phone, and lipstick!
Name one your strengths?
My determination.
How is a normal day in your life?
A normal day for me is first thing I do when I get up is take my dog on an early morning jog to get my energy up. From there I immediately dive into work. Be it preparing scenes, filming on set, or doing interviews. At the end of the day I like to go home watch Netflix and cuddle with my dog.
Idea of a perfect Sunday?
My idea of a perfect Sunday would be to sleep in and spend the day at the beach.
