Describe yourself in 3 words?
Passionate, kind, driven and fun.
Who has made the biggest impact on your life and why?
My mom, a retired nurse, raised all 5 of us (my sisters and brother) on her own after my father passed. She led by example, with her strong faith and put all 5 of us through college.
How did you get started in modeling?
My mom entered me in my first beauty pageant at my local mall at age 9, from then I began a long journey of pageants, modeling, print work, tv commercials, hosting, voice overs, etc.
Biggest Beauty inspiration?
Queen Rania who reminds me of Princess Diana. A young woman turned queen who impacts other women and people of her country. She is refined, educated and affecting an entire culture and society.
Name one of your strengths?
I’m a good listener & resilient. I’m always there for friend or family in need. I’ve been told I make others feel comfortable. I am also non judgmental and a good listener. I’ve experienced unexpected challenges in life and I’ve become resilient which has made me a stronger person today.
Do you have a role model?
My 2 oldest sister’s Dr. Julia Nesheiwat and Dr. Janette Nesheiwat. They are incredible, Janette is an ER Dr. in NYC saving lives daily, Julia has served as a captain in the US army, deployed in several wars and received a bronze medal for her heroism. They both inspire me, and they are my best friends.
How do you stay fit?
Lots of hard work, & healthy eating (lots of Mediterranean food from my ancestry), as well as a high protein / low carb diet.I try to go to the gym 4-5 times a week. I love high intensity classes from power yoga, spinning, extend barre classes & slash boot camp classes with my hubby Scott Stapp (former lead singer of Creed and rock star). I also enjoy water sport activities with my kids.
How did you and Scott meet?
I was visiting Florida and trying to hail a cab, he approached me, we struck up a conversation about his step sister that I previously worked with in modeling, we had a long distance relationship at first and then it was history from there.
How is the life of a rockstar wife?
I don’t think of it that way – it is more like a life of “family globetrotters” – we’ve traveled together from South Africa and even going to India this spring. It’s exciting and it’s also crazy! We are truly blessed but at times I prefer a slower pace at home with kids. It’s so amazing to travel the world on tour and meet all the amazing fans. Living out of a tour bus and hotel isnot always easy but we make the most out of it. I try to balance our work commitments and our family time so our kids can live anormal life and do normal things. I love supporting my husband and it’s awesome to travel with him and see him perform and do what he loves. We’re so proud of him.
How did you guys get involved in the VH1 Couples Therapy show?
They contacted us several times over the past few years. My husband really felt the timing of it made sense to address the public challenges we faced after our very public family crisis and we felt a show geared towards therapy made sense. It gave us an opportunity to show the world that these medical issues affect everyone and we are not alone and how we work through our challenges like other marriages. We’ve had so many families reach out to us – knowing that our story has helped others cope through similar issues was worth it.
Everything that happens on TV real or do you have a script?
No script, everything was is real. but like all reality TV they do edit and omit some scenes.
You are an inspirational woman and role model. Can you share with our audience the toughest challenge you personally have overcome and how you did it.
My family faced a horrific medical crisis last year that I’ll never forget. Seeing my husband sick and hurting was overwhelmingly painful, and going through this publicly was even more difficult. I had to let go, and turn to my faith for strength to endure and get through this challenging time. Having a close family support unit helped us go through this – there is a phrase I read in a book called the “wounded healer” where sometimes taking personal strife and being able to build on that and help others has taught me to not take these challenges for granted and learn from the curve balls life can sometimes throw at you – it has made me stronger today as a woman, mother, wife, and daughter.
Tell us about your children’s book? Are you working on any new book?
WACKY JACKY THE TRUE STORY OF AN UNLIKELY BEAUTY QUEEN. THE STORY IS ABOUT MY REAL LIFE CHILDHOOD. You can check out wackyjackybooks.com for more info.
What’s next for you?
I Started writing my 2nd children’s book, Wacky Jacky the character is older, I’ll be doing a book tour when the book is released.. My charity Children Are MAGICAL FOUNDATION HAS YEAR FULL OF EVENTS AND FUNDRAISERS LINED UP, still a busy mom focusing on my family , traveling with my hubby on Intl tours and try squeezing in casting my modeling and tv auditions when my schedule allows. I also sit on the board for addiction recovery network foundation actively working with helping families and children effected by the disease of addiction.
Do you support any charity?
Yes my families foundation, children are magical childrenaremagical.org as well as sitting on the board for addiction recovery network foundation. Proud to announce the Charm foundation also recently partners with Child Fund Intl, we sponsored an entire village in the Philippines helping over 300 families and children living in poverty. Our family plans to visit the children we sponsored in the Philippines this year. I also will be starting to work with NAMI this year which I’m very excited about.
What do you think of social media?
Yikes, it’s a double edge sword! It’s great to connect with friends from all over the world, and its a great marketing tool to promote your business and your brand but I also think it’s become the Wild Wild West, online bullying has heavily increased, anyone can sit behind a computer and say hurtful things about people and that’s not ok. I also strongly feel kids today are losing social skills by the world of electronics. There should be a balance between our virtual activities and real life! Get out and play! Kids need to be outdoors being kids not sit behind a computer.
