Evolving and transforming from her previous songs “Pretty Girls” and “Dragon (That’s What You Wanted),” Alyson Stoner is back and with her new 2016 debut single announces her arrival as a confident, charismatic and captivating songstress. It also spotlights her voice in all its glory for the very first time.
You already became acquainted with Alyson through blockbuster franchises such as Step Up and Cheaper By The Dozen or the Emmy Award®-winning television series Phineas & Ferb. Or you’ve seen her dance in classic videos for Missy Elliott and Eminem, or most likely you even caught the triple-threat’s own “Missy Elliott Tribute” viral video on YouTube in 2015 that attracted over 15 million views. Like a newborn butterfly, she spreads her wings with a track that doesn’t just serve as her formal musical introduction but a glimpse at her own journey.
“Woman” heralds her arrival and ignites fresh fire for pop music in the process. It also opens up the floodgates for more music, establishing her singular sound and style. “When I write music, it needs to make you move,” she goes on. “Soul and essence are everything. I want to create universal songs every human can identify with and move to.”
Simultaneously, she continues to move fans across the spectrum of entertainment. Collaborating with everybody from Max & Kurt Schneider, Sam Tsui, Leroy Sanchez, and Tyler Ward to Casey Abrams [American Idol], she’s carved out a devoted following and accumulated over 70,000,000 YouTube views along the way. Beyond being a consummate entertainer across mediums, she remains active in the iPourLife organization, venturing to third world countries, fighting poverty and instituting sustainability.

Hi Alyson, please tell us a little about yourself?
Hi there. I’m Alyson Stoner, an actress, singer, and dancer. You may know me from my early work on Disney Channel- Camp Rock, Suite Life of Zack and Cody, and Phineas and Ferb, or Cheaper By The Dozen, the Step Up dance film franchise, and the Missy Elliott music videos. Since, I’m grateful to have worked on over 30 films and 12 network series, with five movies and a viral dance tribute released last year, a new action adventure flick called Mr. Invincible this year, and my most personal and exciting endeavor to date, my original music.
How did you get started?
I began dancing at the age of three in Toledo, Ohio. After attending a talent convention and hearing positive feedback, my family and I commuted from Ohio to Los Angeles to do a trial run in Hollywood. Boy, were we ignorant of what would ensue.
Do you have or had vocal or music classes?
Of course. It is my profession and passion. I train daily and study music regularly.
Is your family musical?
I’ve been told my parents went out dancing nightly before we girls were born. My oldest sister is a beautiful technical dancer. Otherwise, none of us were too heavily involved in the arts to my knowledge.
Describe your sound in 3 words?
Vitality. Rhythmic. Global.
Tell us about your new single “Woman”?
The song is a vibrant and anthemic declaration about embracing your story and asserting yourself. It was written in a time when I realized there was no greater obstacle holding me back from transitioning to greater levels than myself. I decided to take responsibility and commit to living fully, taking risks, facing fears, examining myself honestly. This is just the beginning.
Any advice for upcoming singers?
Yes. If you want to get your music heard, understand you will wear far more hats than the “Artist” cap. Learn business, marketing, accounting, analytics, A&R, management, digital platforms, publicity. We are essentially running our own start-up. Save and invest your money wisely.
Any touring in your plans?
Yes. I may be doing a one-month tour in China coming up. The stage is where my artistry comes to life in full effect, so I can’t wait!
Tell us about the success of your Missy Elliott Tribute video?
The Missy Elliott Tribute was a very decisive response to Missy’s surprise Super Bowl performance. With press outlets asking where I was 12 years later, I wanted to pay homage while also displaying my personal growth since the video. Within three days it was conceived, choreographed, coordinated, filmed, edited, and released. We couldn’t have anticipated such worldwide attention, but how encouraging to know I followed a deep instinct, combined all of my knowledge and experience of art and business, and received such positive feedback! Most importantly, Missy saw our intention, which was first and foremost to honor and thank her.
And now about your acting career? What was your first acting role?
My first film role was Cheaper By The Dozen alongside Steve Martin and Bonnie Hunt. I played the mischievous tomboy Sarah Baker. It was a sheer pleasure and gift to have gotten my on-the-job training next to such legendary actors.
Any plans for a film or Tv Show?
Yes. I have a new action-adventure romantic dark comedy (all in one) called Mr. Invincible releasing this year in theaters. I play Tallulah Marie, a zany and impulsive, but also adorable and charming young woman caught in a very unexpected adventure.
What movies have you been on?
Haha. It’s odd to self-promote like this. Some fun moments along the way include House MD, Major Crimes, voicing characters in Garfield and playing Batgirl in Young Justice, Summer Forever movie, and performing at Madison Square Garden last year.
Who is your favorite Actor/Actress? And why?
Stanley Tucci. He just absolutely transforms…
Any loves other than music and acting?
Yes, neuroscience and mysticism.
How do you spend your spare time?
I’ll be honest. I do not exactly have spare time, but I truly love what I do for a living. It’s important for me to read in the morning, speak with my mentors, visit a small group of close friends who challenge and accept me, and also plug into community work and volunteer.
3 things you can’t live without?
Relationships, love, and hope.
Five years from now you will be….
Living in the present moment, just like I choose to do now.
What music do you have in your iPod?
I’m a big fan of soulful female vocalists like Lianne La Havas, Emily King, and India Arie.
Any other exciting news you want to share with us?
Yes! I’ll be traveling to Ethiopia with I Pour Life Organization to continue our efforts toward ending poverty in the village of Korah and instituting sustainability through teaching trades, finances, healthcare and life skills to families.
How important is Social Media for you?
It is a crucial and necessary doorway to building an authentic audience, sharing my art, and participating in the new media age.
Where we can follow you?
