Emerging from the Toronto underground, Weska’s passion for the electronic music scene first began with a pair of newmark TT500s and a two channel mixer. Years later, he found his way into the studio. Now having recently been supported by the likes of Dosem, Bart Skils, and the Octopus and Drumcode families, he seems to be fulfilling his childhood dreams, yet the journey has just begun.
Currently building a strong fan-base both local and abroad, Toronto clubs have presented Weska with a platform to breach the international music scene. CODA, Maison, Red, and Hoxton are but a few of the venues that have housed the young producer. With big things in the works and an inexhaustible passion for music, the future looks bright for the rising artist.

Describe yourself in 3 words!
Stoked, driven, wholehearted
When did you start DJing?
When I was in grade 9, so 15?
What kind of music did you grow up with?
I was really into metal, punk and classic rock and metal, Metallica, Led Zeppelin, etc.
When did you decide to be a DJ full time?
I’m still not a full time DJ, but I aspire to be one day. I decided that goal when I realized how much I love techno and music as a whole.
Explain your sound in 3 words?
Heavy, synthy techno
What kind of music do you listen on daily basis?
Electronic music of all sorts. I’m constantly finding and searching for new music. I’ve had the new Tame Impala album Currents on repeat for months. It’s arguably my favourite album of all time, I really can’t seem to get enough of it and listen to it at least once a day.
What does it feel like when you are up on stage?
Many emotions: excited, anxious, focused, privileged, euphoric, vibey.
Where does your love for music come from?
I’m always curious when asked this because I really don’t know. My moms father was the only person who was really musical in our family other than my sister and I. I’ve always tried to figure out where the obsession came from.
Which artists and styles inspired and influenced you?
Early Nicole Moudaber really got me into techno. Adam Beyer, John Digweed, Eric Prydz etc. Since I was young I’ve always had this obsession with a groove, what I called “club music” as a kid. Finally I figured out what that “club music” was to me – techno. I think it’s the most versatile and in my option best description of “dance music” out there.
Now tell us about your hit “Despierta”?
Really loved making this track actually. I had a lot of fun playing with the vocal sample and I’m happy with the outcome of the final product.
Best stage/party/club you have ever play?
I played a very fun party at Kingdom in Austin, Texas with Christian Barbuto. The people there really love the music and you can totally feel it while on stage. In terms of the party as a whole, I would say the Octopus Recordings party at The BPM Festival this year. What a time that was! I have to give credit to my home club CODA in Toronto, they’ve done some really great work there in terms of sound and lighting, and you always have to be on your game – the CODA crowd is educated!
What is the best part of life as a DJ? And Worst?
Best part – being able to do what you love the most / being able to express yourself.
Worst part – sleepy.
Your top 3 festivals?
Movement, BPM, Electric Island (Toronto). I have yet to experience Awakenings but I hear it’s something else!
How do you see the future for the dance music scene?
I think the dance music scene is going to keep growing and growing, hopefully in the right direction. But I have faith. Techno has always been around and I think it always will be. The sounds always change as music is forever evolving. I’m excited to see how stuff develops.
Tell us about your experience at the Octopus Recordings event at The BPM Festival?
I’m absolutely thrilled to have played that party, such a vibe and by far one of the best party experiences I’ve ever had. So many familiar faces, some incredible new ones, the music was on point the entire night, it had stopped raining, it super packed, everything was amazing. All around great fun. Loved it!
What’s your motto or the advice you live by?
See the light in everything, be positive, and have fun always.
What advice would you give to up and coming DJs?
Keep your head down and make so much music. Be you as well, not someone else.
Any loves, other then music?
Craft beer, street art, gnarly things, dogs
Any future news you want to share with us?
I have some cool shows coming up, some new remix projects I’m excited about, yeah!
How important is Social Media for you?
In this day and age I think social media is an integral part of your brand and marketing, so very important. I try to stay very active on both Facebook and Instagram
