Hi Marisa please tell us a little about you?
I used to hate this question at school so I’m going to use my joker for this one.
How did you get started in Modeling?
I don’t feel like I’m really modeling, for me it feels more like I’m expressing. Channeling my emotions in front of a lens.
How did you feel when you did your first ever photo shoot?
Back then I thought it was pretty exciting. The photographer’s wife did my make-up (first time I ever actually wore make-up) and then we left for a trip. It still makes me smile how nervous I was back then.
Who was your role model as a child?
I’ve always been more intrigued by animals and nature. Never really had a role model.
How do you feel about the controversy of the size 0 debate in the industry?
As long as everyone is happy with their own body it’s ok I guess. I can only speak for myself, I love food, it’s a big part of my life but I’m also very active. You just need to find the right balance for yourself. Small, medium, big, all beautiful!
What beauty tips do you swear by?
I hydrate my face every day, just the famous blue Nivea tin, cause my grandmother and my father have been using it their whole lives and they still look as fresh as a daisy.
What does fashion mean to you?
I love design and just beauty in life but I’m not really following it up very closely. I know I won’t be able to keep track so I just let it pass by in the corner of my eyes.
What are some of your favorite designers?
I have no idea who invented Havaianas, but that guy!
What are your makeup bag staples when traveling?
I have one small purse where all my make-up fits in. I keep it simple.
What’s the best piece of advice you can give to aspiring models?
Just be yourself, don’t do anything against your own values.
How did you stay fit?
When I was young I practiced athletics. I’m 100% sure that this gave me a good base. Now I just go running a few times a week and after that I have a good stretch.
What are guilty pleasures food wise?
Icecream!
Out of all of the photos the photographer took of you, which is your favorite and why?
Can’t choose.
What is fun and rewarding about modeling?
In the first place, being able to work with creative, inspiring people from all over the world. I’ve met so many interesting people this last year, with some of them I just connect at that certain time but with some I know I’ll be in touch with for the rest of my life.
And of course seeing the result of what you created together with the photographer afterwards.
What distinguishes a good photograph from a bad one?
It just needs to feel right. I love it when a picture is able to move me. When I rethink it a few times after I’ve seen it.
How would you describe your style?
Careless
The most important thing when you are shooting is?
My mindset.
How do you spend your spare time?
I’ve been traveling A LOT this year so that’s hard to say. When I’m at home I like to take it slow, spending time with Mush, going for a run, cooking, hanging out with my family or friends, watching a movie…
Name one your strengths?
My self-confidence.
How important is Social Media for your business?
There’s been a lot of negativity about Social Media lately, I do get it in a certain way but honestly I think it’s just about how you deal with it. If you feel that Social Media is absorbing you, then I believe that’s your own fault. You’re not obliged to be on Social Media so, once again, find your own balance and everything will be fine.
I personally love social media, it has been connecting me with all these amazing people, who I’d otherwise never ever would have met.
