Blonde beautiful and beastie, Cara Quici is certainly rocking the show in the new video for her single Fight which features Dennis Rodman. The Texan singer/songwriter brings us a slamming version of the Beastie Boys hit Fight for Your Right (To Party) in her own sexy style – no VW badges in sight! It’s no surprise the video reached over a million views upon release in just two weeks. Born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas Quici has performed all her life singing and dancing, acting and modeling. Leaving her small Texas town for the bright lights of NYC and later Los Angeles she is now firmly in the spotlight taking inspiration and attitude from her icons Blondie star Debbie Harry and Queen of Pop, Madonna. Her first single ‘Away From You’ which she co-wrote reached the 27th spot on the Dance Billboard charts, ‘Fight’ looks certain to top that and be a smash hit.

When did your enthusiasm for singing start?
From wee little I remember not being able to live without music. I was raised in a very musical family, so it was always a part of my life and is only natural for me.
What was life like in Corpus Christi Texas?
Life in Corpus Christi is great because it’s a beach town! My family also owns a pro-sound and lighting business, that also sells DJ equipment, so it’s always fun hanging out at our family business, as my entire family works there. DJ’s are always popping by and our shop is always testing out equipment by playing really loud music!
Who are you thankful to for getting where you are today?
Myself of course, for being strong, breaking down walls, and never giving up! Also, I’m thankful for my manager Darwin Ortiz of Darwin World Media. I have worked with him for 10 years and he never stopped believing in me! Even through the roughest of times he always saw the artist and passion in me and fought for it.
Tell us how your new single ‘’FIGHT” came about?
I wanted to do something that really expressed the “Fight” I experience while growing in the music industry, by never taking NO for an answer, and fighting for my dreams, rights and passions! However, the writing in ‘Fight’ is overall general topics that everyone can relate to fighting for. I even threw in some girl power!!!
Were you familiar with Beastie Boys? What made you choose this track?
Of course! When I was 14 I won a dance competition in LA, for a dance I choreographed myself, and then performed, to the Beastie Boys hit “Body Movin’” The beat in that track is undeniable! So naturally, this track brought me back to my days of jamming to The Beastie Boys.
How did Dennis Rodman come about being in the fight video?
Dennis Rodman threw a bash in NYC for me, which was my official ‘Fight’ release party! He is very supportive of the track and of course, Dennis is such a big partier so having him release the track was truly the perfect match!
How do you keep fit?
I workout 3 times a week! However, before a big photo shoot I work out 3-5 times a week. I do cardio, weights, abs, and leg lifts, which really keep my thighs in great shape!
How would you explain your fashion style and what items in your closet can you not be without.
I love couture designs and am always up to try new things in the fashion world! I have two sides of me, so I love classy New York chic styles, along with edgy designs. Combining those styles can also be fun!
Do you manage to take time out for yourself and if so, what do you get up to?
I really have to manage to find time for myself these days, but I do believe it’s very important to do so! Working out or bubble baths are always time to myself, but I love to eat a tasty brunch followed by a massage when I find the time. It’s important to rejuvenate yourself.
Any touring in your plans?
Yes, of course! I really want to make sure my next tour is the RIGHT fit for me, my music and my fans. I’ve actually turned down a few tours recently because my team and I, as well as my fans, are busy building my single ‘Fight’ on TOP 40 Radio at the moment. We are all working towards pushing ‘Fight’ high up the charts! Next year, we will reassess my tour opportunities because it has to be a super SPECIAL tour for my fans! Therefore, it’s worth waiting for.
What’s next for you?
Well, I am very excited that ‘Fight’ will be available on iTunes January 21, 2014! Also, I am busy writing, recording and going through mixes of songs in my EP, due out next year! Both things are ultra special for me because I’ve worked SO HARD ON THEM!!!
