Loyal, strong, compassionate.
What part of your job did you find the most challenging?
Traveling! The wrestling and competing in the ring is hard, hard work but it’s fun. Traveling thousands of miles away from home with long days, super early flights, red eyes, delays, bad weather, crammed planes, etc … that’s the part we get paid for!
Any advice to kids who wants to do professional wrestling?
To do this… you have to work hard. You NEED incredible work ethic. But you have to be a student of the game. You have to be a fan of WWE. You have to stand out and find what it is within you that makes you truly sparkle. And then allow that to come alive in front of an audience that is paying to see you!
Now tell us about your show “Total Divas” on E!? And what we can expect of Season 6?
We have six more episodes coming in April. It’s an inside look at our lives in and out of WWE. But the show really displays a human side to us. Like Lana’s many weddings, Nikki working her way back through an Injury, Bri expecting a baby which is so fun to watch unfold. We’re all so excited and happy for Bri and Bryan! It’s a great season and we have fun new cast members too like Renee Young and Maryse and Lana. It’s also awesome to have Naomi back!
Can you share something funny that’s happened to you while filming?
That time when Lana threw a shot-put through the windshield of my car! That was ridiculous! I was so mad all I could really do after was laugh. My dad turned to me and simply asked “What was she thinking?!!!”
Any advice to other people thinking on share their lives on TV?
It’s great for us to be able to show the world that even though we appear larger than life on TV, we are human like everyone else. Being human and being relatable really connects us all.
Do you guys have a script to follow?
On total divas?! No! We could never follow one… just too much stuff happens!
How did you and TJ met?
We have known each other since we were kids. TJ was a friend of my cousin Ted and Matt and went to school with them. He was always around our family, because he would hang out with Ted and Matt. He pretty much became family and everyone treated him like he was because he was so lovable. We met at the Hart House in Calgary when I was like 10….. and we were obviously just friends until then I ended up dating him when I was 18! It’s a crazy story!
We know you love fashion, so who are your favorite designers?
I love BALMAIN, Donatella Versace, The Walter Collection and Michael Costello. Obsessed with Alexander McQueen, Stuart Weitzman shoes, Burberry and anything Louis Vuitton. Although I just picked up the cutest Yves Saint Laurent shoulder purse….. but shhhhh! Don’t tell the people at Louis!
What are your makeup bag staples when traveling?
Concealer! Brow stuff and blush. For a natural look. If I could only use 3 items… it would be that. I love a great moisturizer (Regenica) and I’m also all about a great set of mink lashes. Love Lillie’s lashes! Did I mention I have a crazy makeup brush collection…. I can’t stop buying brushes!
3 things you can’t leave home without?
My cell phone, my wallet, my wrestling gear bag. You never know when and where you’ll have to do a match!
Where do you see yourself in the next 5 year?
Being happy. Enjoying my family. Writing. Being involved in wrestling.
Which project is still on your bucket list?
I want to open up my own wrestling school with my husband. It’s been a dream of ours since we were young.
Who has made the biggest impact on your life so far, and why?
My husband TJ had made the biggest impact by far. He’s so strong and inspiring. He’s always been an underdog and he reached his dreams by never giving up.
Name one your strengths?
Wrestling.
Do you have a role model?
My mom.
How did you stay fit?
I work out a lot! I love Olympic powerlifting and I love to run and be active and wrestling helps too!
What is your favorite healthy food?
Avocados. My obsession!
And your favorite cheat food?
Fancy sushi…with tempura and sauces and all of the bad stuff!
Do you support any charity?
I support many charities and community outreach programs like Make-A-Wish, Connors Cure, Susan G Komen, Special Olympics, etc….
Idea of a perfect Sunday?
Doing nothing!
How do you spend your spare time?
Running errands, spending time with family, laundry, writing and painting and taking selfies with my cats. Mainly 2pawz.
What’s your favorite quote?
One by Randy Pausch “we cannot change the cards we are dealt, just how we play the hand.”
