Who is your biggest supporter?
My mother. We shared one shadow growing up. She remains my best friend.
How did you get started in the industry?
An open call in Detroit, MI! A week later, we moved to LA.
What was your first acting role?
Alanïs Morissette’s music video, Hand’s Clean. I’m the blondie with the beanie. No one knows ?
What is the best and worst part of being an actor?
The best part is easy, an actor can escape into another universe of exceptional reality. The worst part is remaining in this world too long to the point of emotional exhaustion. It usually takes me about a week to recover from a difficult shoot.
Best advice ever given?
Don’t let others project their insecurities and narrative onto your journey. It’s your journey, it’s your passion, you know what’s best.
How did you find out about Sharknado and tell us about this 5th movie?
Sharknado was offered to me within 48 hours of an international flight I needed to catch. I fell in love with the energy of the script and cancelled my flight to show up on set the following day.
Now about your role as Gemini Shepard?
Gemini is a combustible energy of compassion and strength. I love her balance and the sensitivity the writers infused within her. To me, she was always a 3-dimensional character.
What has been your most memorable experience from the set?
Leaping off the Stratosphere Hotel at 4:30 in the morning, and Anthony, our director, yelling “Don’t scream!”
Why do you think is the success of the movie saga?
Sharknado carries heart and yet it doesn’t take itself too seriously. Most importantly, it writes for the fans. Quite a potent mix!
What other projects you have been part of?
We enjoyed a Lopez reunion on George’s new show Lopez on TV Land.
Who is your favorite Actor/Actress?
Sandra Bullock
And why?
Because she is the epitome of class and charm on and off camera. Absolutely adored working with her on George Lopez.
3 things you can’t leave your house without?
My dog, a book, and my phone.
What music do you like?
I am open to many international flavors of music. If it has a good, solid rhythm, I’m hooked. But I often go in phases. For the last few months I’ve been indulging in Mozart and Vivaldi. Before then, Ladysmith Black Mambazo. Jamie xx is also a favorite.
Your idea of a perfect Sunday is?
New York Times crossword puzzles, some classic 90’s rock, and dip in our pool (around 40 laps) followed by a decedent early dinner at one of our favorite spots. Then we return home early to binge-watch our favorite show. It’s currently The Handmaid’s Tale.
How’s a normal day in your life?
I wake up around 6:30 am, take my puppy out for a walk, then work out at Purebarre. I’m usually home by 9am, which is when Hollywood wakes up. Then I’m either off to a rehearsal or meeting with producers. I come home, prepare dinner for my husband, and we indulge in our favorite show.
What is your favorite healthy food?
Sautéd spinach with a dash of lemon juice. I sometimes enjoy this for breakfast and dinner! Homemade kale chips, as well.
And your favorite cheat food?
Triple Berry Cake for breakfast with a cappuccino at Sweet Lady Jane bakery in Santa Monica
How do you see yourself in 5 years?
