Hi guys! As you may know, my name is Archangela Chelsea and I am a celebrity makeup artist. I’ve been doing makeup for over eight years now. I started my career when I was 15 years old in Indonesia. When I was 17 years old, I got the chance to work in LA. When I was 19 years old, I got my first Hollywood client. From there, I started my career in Hollywood. My work has been featured in many magazines such as Teen Vogue, Glamour, Elle, Bazaar, Vogue, Cosmopolitan, and more. I am currently the Brand Ambassador of a new cosmetics line called Lakme Cosmetics. I am the pro stylist for Indonesia, along with @makeupbymario for their global Brand Ambassador.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Ambitious, Focused, Forgiving
Who is your biggest supporter?
Definitely my parents! Without them, I cannot be who I am right now. I love them and I love the fact that they really do understand me.
How did you get started in the industry?
I was a painter before and my oldest sister was the one who introduced me to makeup when I was 15 years old. From that moment, I just loved to play with makeup.
When did you know a career in beauty was for you?
To be honest, I didn’t know until I was 20 years old. When I was 17 years old, I started doing makeup for others and I didn’t expect to become a makeup artist. I just love doing it! I never thought that I would make money out of it until I started doing makeup for celebrities in Hollywood. From that moment, I said, “Okay, that’s it! This is going to be my career!”
Best advice ever given?
Just keep doing what you love. Never give up and just keep moving forward.
Can you tell us your favorite beauty trends for the fall/winter?
Definitely dark lips. I love dark lips so much for this fall/winter, especially with flawless and luminous skin. I love the Lakme Absolute Cosmetics Lipstick color, Coffee Shot. I also love how the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation complements the lipstick color.
Today’s woman is busier than ever. What is the easiest/quickest way to turn a day/work look into something that works for night out?
Add a little bit of eyeshadow, maybe a bit of falsies, and just add colors to your lips! It’s that easy!
What three makeup item should no woman leave home without?
Eyebrow pencil, lipstick, and mascara
You’ve done such beautiful work on so many celebrities. Can you name a few?
Karmin, Mario, Sarah Rafferty, Pom Klementieff, Jeannie Mai, Chriselle Lim, and a lot of others.
Who have you not worked and still on your bucket list?
I would love to go to Europe and maybe also work on London Fashion Week. I’ve done makeup for NYFW but I haven’t for London.
What has been the biggest challenge of your career?
To be honest, making sure that all of my clients love my work is the biggest challenge of my career. As a human, I cannot please everyone. I really cannot.
What music do you like?
Currently, chill music like The Chainsmokers.
Your idea of a perfect Sunday is?
BE AT HOME AND DOING NOTHING! It’s been a while since I’ve done this. I would love to just be in my bed and sleep all day!
How’s a normal day in your life?
Working. I have a lot of celebrity and socialite clients. Thankfully, I always have jobs to do. Therefore, my normal day in life? Going from one studio/house to another.
What is your favorite healthy food?
I don’t eat healthy by the way. Maybe fruits? Pressed juice?
And your favorite cheat food?
KFC!
How do you see yourself in 5 years?
Hopefully I will still be a makeup artist and keep inspiring other makeup artists in this world.
Do you support any charities?
Of course! In my home country, I support mostly local and smaller charities and I donate to them.
