HEY! I am a singer/songwriter originally from Columbus OH, but currently living in beautiful Los Angeles ,CA!
We talked before but we see that you have a new single out, tell us about it?
This song all started from a dream of mine because I actually write songs in my sleep on occasion. My “sleep songs” are usually comical and not this serious so I don’t worry about finishing them, but the melody of this one had something funky about it. I woke up and ran to the living room to record a voice note so that I wouldn’t forget it.
The next day, I just filled in the spaces where I needed better lyrics and kept singing it to myself. Drew Drucker, a producer I frequently work with, overheard me and asked what I was singing. I laughed and told him I had written it in my sleep (my sleep songwriting was a joke at this point). However, he liked it and we decided to finish writing it together on the spot. A guitar player we collaborate with named Drew Dvorsky came by later that day and wrote a groovy guitar part to our melody. Next thing you know we had an entire song that literally started from a dream.
Why the “I Know You’ve Heard” name for the video?
Well, when I say “I know you’ve heard” It’s actually me admitting that I’ve heard how I affect some people. I’m playing off what I’ve been told about myself.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Did you write the lyrics?
Yes, I am involved in the writing process of every song of mine.
Explain your sound in 3 words?
Sensual, vulnerable, groovy
What is your next goal as a musician?
I would like to intergrade my acting and love for movies in with my music. I’m also dying to go on tour.
Any loves other than music?
I write fictional stories for fun and I also love watching movies! I just recently took up acting too, which has quickly become a new obsession of mine.
Best advice ever given?
“Always be a student, always be learning”
Any advice for upcoming singers?
Learn the business and don’t rely on anyone but yourself to get it done.
If you weren’t singing, what would you be doing?
Acting or screenplay writing.
Any exiting news you want to share with us?
I’m currently working on something extremely ambitious that I don’t want to talk about just yet. Although, I would keep an eye out for new music. I have taken a new approach to my songwriting that I feel compliments my voice in a new and exciting way!
What is your own definition of happiness?
Independence that is not absent of friendship, partnership, and family.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
I didn’t actually discover Aaliyah until after she died. I was just a little bit too young. However, after discovering her in my later teens, I became completely obsessed. She has definitely been a huge musical influence in my career so far. I would love to meet her!
What is your favorite song? And why?
That is almost nearly impossible to answer considering how many songs that have had a huge impact on who I am today. However, I think “The way you look tonight” is one of the most beautiful songs ever written and is one of the first songs I ever learned to sing as a kid. I wouldn’t say it’s my favorite, but its definitely very nostalgic to me and reminds me of my mom. She loves it too.
Your idea of a perfect Sunday is?
I enjoy just being lazy with my love. We like to go to the movies on Sundays. Ideally, It has to be raining for it to be the perfect Sunday! I’m obsessed with the rain.
Name one your strengths?
I pride myself on the friendships I’ve developed over the years. I put a lot of value and time into them because I think friendship one of the key ingredients to a long-lasting life. I would also say that I am good at making people laugh. I think humor is another key ingredient.
How important is Social Media for you?
Very! I think it’s the perfect way for fans to get to know the artists they listen to. It’s also a great way to interact with them. I think it’s taken the place of most paid advertising out there too. There’s so much you can do with social media. The tricky part is not getting addicted to it.
