I was born in Scotland into an old Ayrshire family and grew up in Dunure; it’s an ancient and romantic area, steeped in history. The TV series “Outlander” was filmed there. I fell into sales until I was introduced to a marketing company called Arbonne, which I built as a vehicle to create time and financial freedom. It was that opportunity which allowed me to really change my life in every way possible. A friend once told me, “Money isn’t everything…but it’s right up there with oxygen.” This is so true, and whilst coveting money is unhealthy, the earning and use of to create a vibrant and meaningful life is good. I used it to invest into myself. I’ve since transformed my body and challenged myself physically in the gym, playing tennis, skiing, running and supported it with a dietary education to optimize my health and wellbeing.
I use my money to make money, support my philanthropic endeavors, and invest into projects that interest me. It lets me help visionaries and creatives who need backing monetarily and mentally. This is important to me. There’s an old saying, “a rising tide floats all ships”. I can be an awesome cheerleader and there’s nothing I love more than getting behind people I love and supporting them!
I realize that whilst it’s important to meet the physical goals it’s also about spiritual growth and finding balance. Seeking an honest life and spending it with people who vibrate on the same level as me and seeking to experience life authentically is where I am right now.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Honest, dependable, and naughty.
Who is your biggest supporter?
I think probably my mum.
How did you get started in marketing?
I was very resistant to network marketing. My dear friend tried to get me into it for ages but I kept saying no. I then came to realize I was simply uneducated and had preconceived ideas as to what the industry and opportunity was. My views were antiquated and my ego was clouding my judgement. When I came to my senses I jumped in with a mission and a vision. Rising to the top level within 18 months in one of the most challenging markets in the world: The UK. I was celebrated as the first man in my company to reach the top level of success outside of the U.S and it was a big deal. I was seen as an anomaly – THE man in a woman’s world (because at the time our products were mostly women’s skincare and beauty).
Success comes at a price. You cannot expect to be successful without sacrifice, whether it be time or money investment. You also have to be coachable and a team player.
You must have a vision and a mission from the start. I had audacious goals but I couldn’t achieve any without an extraordinary team. My success is one of interdependence. I lit the touch paper, laid the foundations and lead a team to the top of my industry but what they did with their businesses and the opportunity was magnificent. I am in awe of my business partners and continue to bask in their reflective glory because I’d have no success or lifestyle without them.
It has been the biggest influence in my life along with my friend Caroline McFarlane who came into my life at 17 and pointed me in the direction of the entertainment industry and then did the same with Network Marketing 17 years later. Go figure 1+7=8…the luckiest number in The Universe.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”24859″ img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]Best advice ever given?

Tell us about your successful “Fake It Till You Make It: How To Stop Imposter Syndrome” story?
Most of my articles come from conversations with friends. I know so many people who are still trying to get approval or validation subconsciously from people who are long dead or who don’t care or even remember what they said that was so destructive to us and which we have carried for all these years with us. The effect is a lowering the self-esteem.
What is ‘Imposter Syndrome’?
Essentially, it’s unfair criticism or expectation placed upon us in childhood that affected us and remained unresolved, as we became adults. As we successful contributors to society a part of us thinks we will be found out as being a fake or not worthy of the success. E.g. if you were called stupid by an educator/family member and then grow up to be a Doctor a part of you (despite the success and validation from society) think you’re stupid on some level and will be outed.
How does it start and how does it affect our lives?
Starts in childhood and manifests its self as low self-esteem and fear based behavior, thereby limiting our choices and experiences of life.
What wellness tips you can recommend for people in this 2018? I am all about Transcendental Meditation. Transcendental Meditation has been a lifesaver for me. It’s a technique for avoiding distracting thoughts and promoting a state of relaxed awareness.
You meditate in a comfortable position with eyes closed and silently repeating a mantra (which is given to you). The mantra is a word (or sound) from the Vedic tradition that is used to focus your concentration.
When meditating, your ordinary thinking process is “transcended.” It’s replaced by a state of pure consciousness. In this state, you can achieve perfect stillness, rest, stability, order, and a complete absence of mental boundaries. It has helped reduce my anxieties and promote a more joyous outlook of my life.
What other projects you have been part of?
I’m about to launch a luxury swimwear range with celebrity stylist, Bruno Lima. We were out to dinner one night when I asked the fateful question, “where do you see yourself in 5 years time if you continue doing exactly what you’re currently doing today?” The answer wasn’t positive!! I said, “ Okay, so what would you be doing if money was no object…” he said, “running my own luxury men’s swimwear brand”. I said, “tell me about it…” one hour later I was all on and we decided to go into business together!! It was that simple. I have the vision and we both have the drive to succeed. Bruno already had the designs and so currently we are at the fitting process…watch this space on instagram #brunolimaswim
