I am Sarah! I am 17 years old. I live in Arizona as well as part time in California. I am going to be a senior at Casteel High School in Queen Creek, Arizona. I am a dancer, actor and one of the captains of my pom team at my school. I am going into my 2nd year of attending a traditional school after being homeschooled for five years. I really love my school and love being able to do regular teenage things with my friends. In addition, I am a former cast member of Dance Moms, seasons 4 and 5. I’ve been on America’s Got Talent, been in several music videos, a feature film and most recent was cast a starring role on Brat Networks, Boss Cheer. I love having the best of both worlds. Being able to have a high school experience and have the opportunities I have in LA is the most I could ever ask for.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
This is always a hard question for me! Probably the three words I would use to describe myself are hardworking, passionate and kind.
Who is your biggest supporter?
My biggest supporter is my mom. I could not ask for a more supportive and loving person in my life. My mom is my rock and my “goto” for everything. She really is the best.
How’s a typical day in your life?
CRAZY! Haha. My life is really busy. My typical day is school, pom practice, acting classes and dance. During school my day starts at 6am and ends around 9 to 9:30pm. When I am on set, my days vary from day to day. I could be acting, dancing or both!
When did you start dancing?
I took my very first dance class when I was two. I knew at a very young age that dance was my passion. It was all I wanted to do! I remember my mom trying to get me to try other sports like softball but all I did was do pirouettes in the outfield during the game. My mom realized very early on that dance was it for me!
Did you take dancing classes?
From the age of two I have been taking classes and competing in dance. I average around 16 to 20 hours of dance a week.
What’s it like being on Lifetime’s Dance Moms?
Being on Dance Moms was a great experience. Even though it was stressful at times with Abby and the moms, it was some of the best times of my life. I learned so much and made the best friends from the show.
How did you get on the show?
I got on Dance Moms auditioning at an open call in Atlanta. The show was having open calls in several cities. Thousands of kids auditioned! I was so excited when I found out I was cast on the show.
Who’s your best friend in the show?
I don’t really have one best friend from the show. I think when you do a show like that you bond quickly with everyone. We are all still really close friends. We keep in touch and see each other as much as we can!
Any advice for aspiring dancers?
I have three pieces of advice I share with aspiring dancers. First, I believe that a passion should consume all of your heart and soul. If dance is that for you like it is for me let it be the thing that can get you through anything. Second, learn from those who have paved the way. Bob Fosse, Alvin Ailey, Mia Michaels, and Travis Wall are just a few of my inspirations. Last, believe in yourself and know you can accomplish anything with hard work and dedication.
What do you love most about dancing?
It would be hard to pick one thing I love most about dance. Dance is so many things to me. It’s my passion, my escape, my confidence and what makes me who I am.
What type of dance do you like best?
Lyrical is my favorite type of dance. I feel it is the one genre I can really express myself through.
What has been the best thing that has happened to you since being on the show?
My life has changed so much since I left Dance Moms. I decided to study acting in addition to continuing training in dance. I have been lucky enough to be cast in several music videos (my favorite being Walk the Moon’s, Work This Body), I was cast in and filmed a feature called Ham om Rye, and currently I am a cast member on a Brat Network called Boss Cheer!
How does it feel to be really famous and be recognized on the streets?
It is definitely surreal to be recognized and have fans! I am so grateful and blessed to have such an amazing fan base.
You are followed by so many young girls. How do you feel about that pressure of doing always the right thing, and encourage people to follow their dreams?
I feel it is my responsibility to always be positive and encouraging. It is so important to me that I am a positive role model for young girls. I want them to know that they can do anything with hard work and determination.
Now please tell us about “BOSS CHEER?”
I am so excited to be cast in Brat Networks newest show, Boss Cheer! We just wrapped our fist season in the spring and the first episode aired last week. I play Charlotte on the show. She is the head cheerleader and the girl you love to hate. We have such an amazing cast so I hope you will check it out!
What is next for Sarah Reasons in 2018?
What’s next for me is finishing high school and going on to college, hopefully continuing with our show on Brat, lots more acting and dancing and some other exciting things that I will be able to share soon!
What project is still on your bucket list?
One thing I have always wanted to do is to perform as a backup dancer at the Super Bowl!
How would you describe your fashion style?
l’d describe my fashion style as trendy. I am constantly seeking out the latest trends in magazines and on social media. However, my favorite way is watching the styles on the carpet at the awards shows and Met Gala!
Favorite designer?
Coco Chanel
Do you have a favorite actress or actor that inspires you?
I have lots of favorites! One that comes to mind is Blake Lively. I think she is so talented.
Best advice ever given?
The best advice I have ever been given is by the great Mia Michaels. She was teaching a convention and sat us all down and told us we would never truly know dance until we have learned from those who came before us in the industry. She asked that each one of us research and write a paper on the trials and successes of those who have paved the way in the dance world. By doing what she asked of us, I have learned so much! I have gained such an incredible amount of respect for those who have made what I do and love possible. I don’t think I would be the dancer I am today without her advice.
3 things you can’t leave home without?
The three things I can’t leave home without are my phone, chap stick and sun glasses.
What is you favorite song?
My favorite song is Take My Breath Away. Why? I love songs that have meaning in my life.
What is you favorite song to belt out in the car/for karaoke?
Even though I am the worst singer, I love to sing! I would say my favorite song to belt out is Since U Been Gone.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
If I could meet anyone it would be Audrey Hepburn. She is my definition of beauty, talent, confidence and class.
Who is you’re role model?
My role model is my dance teacher Alexa Moffett. Alexa has been that one person in my life that has always believed in me and has instilled the value of hard work, perseverance and determination. I am so lucky to have her as my mentor, role model and friend.
Name one your strengths?
I believe my biggest strength is confidence. It’s the one thing I wish for all young girls. With confidence, you can face anything.
What kind of music do you listen to today?
I am such a music lover! You would be surprised to know that I love all music old and new! Music is so personal to me. I think I have a playlist for every mood!
Your idea of a perfect Sunday is?
My idea of a perfect Sunday is Church with my friends and to stop and enjoy some free time!
Do you support any charities?
I do! I have a few animal rescue charities I support and I am an ambassador for an anti bullying charity. I feel that bullying is such a problem for kids especially with social media. It’s really sad how it affects so many. We should be building each other up instead of tearing each other down.
What do you think of Social Media as you are a huge influencer in this category?
Social media can be an amazing tool if used in the right way! It’s so easy for people to hide behind social media in so many ways, bad and good. We as influencers have a responsibility to be role models and positive examples for our followers. We have the power to spread positivity and I really believe it is our duty.
