I am Tori Kay! I am 16 years old from Dallas Texas, but currently living in LA. I am a singer, dancer, actress, and model! My music is a blend of urban pop with a message of empowerment! My original songs, “Girl Power”, “Start a Fire”, “Kings”, and “Own It” can be found on all musical platforms!
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Determined, Passionate, Silly
Name one of your strengths?
Work ethic
How did you get started in the industry?
I got started as a competitive dancer in Texas. The competition studio I went to also had a theatre department. I decided that I wanted to try out theatre and ended up falling in love with acting. At that time, I also became obsessed with the TV show ‘Shake It Up’ on Disney Channel, that’s what led me to on-camera acting.
Best advice ever given?
Keep your family and friends close to you. I am blessed to have the support of my friends and family back home who have been there for me since the beginning. They keep me grounded. I have a good community around me that reminds me of where I started. They help me stop and appreciate how far I have come.
Tell us about your roles in the hit series “OMG!”, and “Cheerleaders”?
My roles in both series were based on life as a teenager. My character takes the awkward everyday moments as a teenager and turns them into the most hilarious events ever!
What has been your most memorable experience from the set?
My most memorable experience on the set of “Cheerleaders” was filming one of my favorite episodes where we are cheering on the science fair participants and it goes all wrong. In the episode, a volcano experiment erupts at the wrong time, which we all fear in real teenage world. This sends my co-star, Lofton Shaw into hilariously dramatic tears, again every teenage boy’s nightmare, to cry uncontrollably in front of the school cheerleaders. Trying to film this and not die in hysterical laughter was so funny!
What is your next goal as an actress?
I would love to have a lead role in a Disney or Nickelodeon show where I get to sing, dance, and act!
What other projects have you been part of?
I just wrapped filming the movie “Next Level” which will be in theaters early 2019!
Which actors/actress would you like to collaborate with in the future?
Zendaya. I have admired her since the show “Shake It Up” on Disney Channel! She is one of my biggest professional inspirations, from the charities she is associated with, to her fashion and music.
Now about your music career, tell us about your group Pynk Le’Monade?
My girl group, Pynk Lemonade and I, are currently putting the final touches on our EP!
Where can we listen to your songs?
My original music can be found on Spotify, iTunes, SoundCloud. Pynk Lemonade will be coming out with music very soon!
3 things you can’t leave your house without?
Lip gloss, my phone and my phone charger!
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
Beyonce. I don’t even know what to say about this, she is just Beyonce guys!
Your favorite song? Why?
Honestly one of my favorite songs is my original that has not been released yet called “Born To Fly”. It is a message of empowerment! We are all born to do great things and the challenges along the way only make us stronger.
What music do you like?
I like to listen to Rap/R&B but I sing Pop.
How’s a normal day in your life?
On a normal day, I wake up, eat cheerios while catching up on social media, then I hit the gym with my workout partner aka my mom. After my workout, I take my puppy, LaLa Star, out to play. I broadcast on Live.Me from 11am-1pm. I also post on my Instagram, Facebook, Vigo Video, Twitter around 3:00 pm PST. Most evenings I have either rehearsal with my girl group or I will attend an event. Somewhere in there, I am still fitting in online college courses, mostly in the car while my mom is driving.
Do you support any charity?
You will see from my social media that I have an obsession with shoes. I work with a charity called HUGS (Help. Us. Give. Shoes.) This charity provides shoes to the children in the Appalachian Mountains.
What do you like to watch on tv?
I like to watch competition shows like American Idol, The Four, World of Dance, and So You Think You Can Dance!
Five years from now you will be…?
I will be graduated from college with a business/marketing degree. I will have my own fashion line and Disney/Nickelodeon show.
Any news you want to share with us?
2018 has been an exciting year and we are only a little over half way through! There is a lot planned for early 2019 that I will be able to talk about soon!
What do you think of Social Media?
I think social media has many positives. When it is used correctly it has the ability to connect people that would never have been connected, and it gives a voice to each and every one of us. I host a show on Instagram every Sunday at 7:30PST/9:30CST interviewing people my age in the industry. My show gives my followers a personal and real inside look at people they admire and look up that they normally wouldn’t have the ability to interact with.
