Positive, Fun, Loyal
We’re sure you have been asked this million times but how did you get in the industry?
I knew from an early age that music was what I wanted to do. I started playing guitar at 6 years of age and doing gigs then! My Dad was involved in bands as a bass player when I was growing up & I use to love going to all his band rehearsals – I’m sure his band members thought it was really great also ha!. I grew up in a small country town (In Queensland, Australia) and took every opportunity I could. I was fortunate that my parents were so supportive and sacrificed a lot for me to follow my dreams, still to this day, they are a great support. One thing would always lead to the next and as a young girl still at school, I was touring/performing/traveling a lot with my music. I guess my first biggest break would have been performing on a Televised Australian Christmas Carols while still at school. I got to perform alongside some well loved Australian talent. It was a very special gig! That performance was a turning point in my career and I very shortly after that performance signed a deal and moved to Melbourne.
Do you play any instruments?
I play Guitar but I also play a little Bass, Drums & Piano.
Tell us about your performance with Grammy Award Winner David Foster?
It was one of the best moments of my life. I’ve always admired David Foster for his musical greatness and working with legends like Michael Jackson & Whitney Houston & for discovering talent like Michael Buble. To share the stage with him at such a magical event (was a pre – oscars event in Los Angeles) will be hard to beat in terms of career highs. I adore David Foster and still can’t believe I shared a stage with him. David is such a lovely, kind man as well as a musical genius! I can’t wait to work with him again.
Do you ever get nervous?
I sure do, I think its only human to get a little nervous! I get super excited though as well so its a good mix to have. Performing live is my favourite thing to do. I feel at home on stage and feel more comfortable on stage than I do anywhere. I’m about to head off to Tahiti, Japan, Korea and New Zealand to perform and I can’t wait. The bigger the crowd for me the better.
If you could go and work with any artist on tour right now who would it be?
I LOVE Keith Urban. His lyrics to his songs are so relatable and his guitar skills are nothing short of freaky! He’s a legend! Keith grew up near me in Queensland and I performed with him a few times when I was younger, when he lived in Australia. He use to get around with white blonde hair, cut in a mullet, It must have been the fashion back then, I thought he was just so cool haha.
My 3 year son and husband are both loving Drake and I must say, I’m loving him just as much. Mason, my son sings his songs pretty well, he knows all the words. He told me Drake is his second favourite singer (at the moment, I’m his favourite but I’m sure that will change next week). I would love to tour with Masons 2nd favourite singer – he comes across like a good guy and his songs are addictive. We have Drake playing a lot at home and have many family dance-offs to his music.
I’ve seen Pink live and think she is just awesome and love everything she represents, I would love to tour with her also.
What inspires you to do new music?
Life experiences! I think being real and authentic in what you write as a songwriter is so powerful. Music can be relatable & so inspiring due to the powerful words contained in the lyrics. Strong lyrics create a story, which can inspire emotion within the listener. There is nothing better than an artist who engages their audience on an emotional level! To me there is nothing better than the pulse of a beat, the flow of a chord structure, a repetitive keyboard part, background harmonies or the thump of a bass line. I love creating new music and am collaborating with some incredibly talented people at the moment making new music.
Best advice ever given?
‘Laugh, even when you want to cry, because laughing is the best way to get through life. Everything that seems big will be small one day”.
Do you have a role model?
Leeza Gibbons is my role model. Leeza is the epitome of grace, beauty, style, poise, warmth & one of the sweetest & kindest souls ever. This is why I knew she was the perfect god mother for Mason. If the world had more people like LG in it, it would be a better place!
What is you favorite song? And why?
Songbird by Eva Cassidy. This song is beautiful in every way. I walked up the aisle to this song when I married Jess. It holds special memories.
Any loves, other then music?
My biggest love is my 3 year old son Mason. He is my world! He’s a very cheeky, active, independent 3 year old who inspires/motivates me daily. I’m so proud to be his Mummy! Family is my biggest love. My husband Jess, Mum, Dad and my sister Christina are my best friends and I love quality family time with them. They are all such an incredible support system to me and my biggest fans. I’d be lost without them!
I’m also loving a thing called F45. It’s a team -based functional training facility that goes for 45 minutes. Being a tired, busy Mum who travels a lot this is my escape most days. I am the proud ambassador of F45 Hawthorn in Melbourne and it’s something I look forward to every day.
The owner, Machaela Dwyer has become a good friend & is a huge support to my career and life in general ….. I’m so much more productive after a session at F45 sweating, punching, kicking out daily stresses. I’m the fittest I’ve ever been, which helps when I’m running around the stage and trying to chase after Mason!
I’m obsessed with Lash Extensions & a company called Just Lashes.
Being a busy working Mum, I’m all about a rejuvenated appearance, thank goodness for Just Lashes for making me look a lot more rested than I am.
I also love how much time/effort you can save with your beauty regimen, mascara is no longer necessary & the added benefit is you look/feel polished and confident all day, every day! I’m so excited to be the face of Just Lashes.
Name 3 things you can’t live without?
My Family (especially Mason), Guitar & my iPhone (Terrible I know!).
Name one your strengths?
Being Positive/Grateful. Life can be stressful at times & obviously like everyone I have bad days, but I try to find the positives in all situations/circumstances. I believe that going through a tough period makes you come out stronger and wiser. I think having a positive attitude is contagious! I had a little health set back a few months ago and I really learnt the true meaning of being “Positive and Grateful”. I believe being Positive/Grateful allows you to experience life at its best & counting your blessings in life arguably opens the door to a life of prosperity! At the moment, I would say, I’m certainly more present and grateful than ever and I see this as a huge strength!
How is a normal day in your life?
A normal day in my life can be pretty hectic. I jam a lot into my days! Being a full time working musician, traveling a lot and above all a full time Mum can be a lot to juggle. My parents live in Queensland but they fly down a lot to spend time with Mason and give my husband and I a little help.
When I’m home in Melbourne and not touring/traveling, Mason comes everywhere with me – including to work.
I wake up and Mason and I head to F45 where I do a 45 minute exercise session which sets me up to be productive for my busy day ahead. Then it’s home to do all the glamorous things like cleaning the house, doing the washing, dishes and having some play time with Mason. We then head to the studio for songwriting or recording and then home for the busiest part of the day – dinner, bath time and getting ready for bed. Once Mason is down for the night, I get into all my emails from the day and finish songs for the next day in the studio. It kind of never stops but you know what, I wouldn’t want it any other way!
What is your favorite healthy food?
I love Avocado! Avocado in salads, avocado dips or just Avocado on its own – delish. My Dad use to make my sister and I Avocado on toast for breakfast when we little, still to this day one of my favourite things to eat. I also love Poke Bowls! When I tour, I eat a lot of Poke Bowls!
And your favorite cheat food?
Can never go past a good burger and hot chips!
Idea of a perfect Sunday?
The Sunday routine (if we have nothing on) that my family have already is my absolute perfect Sunday. I have a little sleep – in, then my husband and Mason make me breakfast in bed (avocado and eggs!) then we all have a snuggle in bed, head to the park and then relax for the rest of the day.
Do you support any charities?
I sure do! I support the Olivia Newton – John Cancer and Wellness centre. 10 years ago I went to China with Olivia Newton – John and others to raise money to build the cancer and wellness centre which is now in Melbourne, Australia and is a beautiful source of healing. Through the China trip and through the centre I have made the most amazing life – long friends in Masons godmother, Leeza Gibbons (American TV host), her husband Mogul Steven Fenton, Australian Actress Rachel Gordon, businessman John Kauvlich & Olivia. We are very close and I feel like the luckiest girl alive to be able to have them as such a big part of mine and my families lives. During the past 10 years we have all been through so much together and seen each other through some life- changing moments. I’m so grateful for the China trip, the centre and the life-long friendships I have made. The ONJ cancer and wellness centre is a charity I will always support as it’s been a very important to me in many ways.
I also support the “Nicholas Timms Foundation”. Our friends, Michael and Belinda Timms started the Nicholas Timms Foundation after losing their precious son, Nick to cancer. Belinda and Michael through fundraising (including a gala night I’m performing at this year in November) have built a house so families and children dealing with cancer can recharge and relax. They are wonderful people & I really admire them for their strength and for everything they do with the Nicholas Timms Foundation. I know little Nick is one very proud little angel!

Movie: The Notebook
Actor/Actress: Brad Pitt is my favourite Actor! I always enjoy all the movies he does. Sharon Stone is my favourite Actress! She is also my favourite Instagram follower. She’s a beautiful lady inside and out, such a natural beauty and so talented!
Food: Smashed Avacado
Tv Series: Mayans MC! JD Pardo (the lead) and his wife Em are dear friends of mine and my family. I was in LA when JD got the role & was so excited. Jess and I were huge fans of “Sons of Anarchy” and with “Mayans FC” being the spin-off show of that, we’ve been looking forward to it. It aired in Australia at the start of September and it hasn’t disappointed, it’s just as good as “Sons of Anarchy” so far. We are really into it & so proud of JD, he’s killing it!
I wish “Sex and the City” was still making new episodes as that is one of the best TV shows of all time. I don’t usually like watching repeats of anything, but I watch “Sex and the City” over and over again. I Love it!
Restaurant: Kokos (Japanese) at Crown Casino in Melbourne – Yum!
Sports Team: I have two favourites! The North Melbourne Kangaroos in the AFL (Australian Football League) are my favourite, my husband Jess use to play for them. Because my husband played over 100 games for the Kangaroos in the AFL, our son Mason, gets what they call Father/Son and he will hopefully play in the AFL as well. I dare say Mason will play AFL as he’s already so passionate about AFL (& soccer) and kicks the ball each day. “Ball” was one of his first words.
I love Manchester United! Jess (my husband) and I visited Old Trafford last year & did a tour of the stadium and ground it was pretty amazing! We also saw Manchester United play in a game against Liverpool, the atmosphere was incredible ….. the fans in the UK really get into their sports, loved it. I was interviewed by MUTV just near the interchange bench in the stadium, that was a career highlight as well. It was on my husbands bucket list to see Manchester United play and do a tour of the stadium, I think he was more excited about going to Old Trafford than he was for our wedding day![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
