What are your greatest strengths and weaknesses?
I guess my greatest strengths are that I do not give up easily and I do everything in my power to achieve my goals. My greatest weakness is that I can get distracted easily, but at the end of the day I always get things done!
Why and how did you decided to become a fashion designer?
I grew up in a family that has always been involved in the fashion business, so it was something very natural for me, since I was a child I used to dress up my toys, every doll and teddy bear had a cool outfit to wear! I really never considered anything else for my future, I always knew this was what I wanted.
What does fashion mean to you?
Fashion for me is a very interesting form of expression, you can express who you are, how you feel, how do you want to feel or even who do you want to be. It can change so quickly the perspective people get from you in whichever way you want, and it can also make YOU feel different about yourself and change your mood in a sec!
I think it’s the greatest visual form of expression.
How do you describe your fashion style?
My style is feminine, romantic, elegant and sexy.
What is it like working for yourself now and who is your dream client?
Working for myself is amazing and sometimes daring, I am always creating new things and new goals to make the business grow
I would love to dress Blake Lively, she is gorgeous, fun, empowering and has a fabulous sense of style.

What is the qualification required for a fashion designer career?
I believe it is very important to have a formal fashion education, I studied a career in fashion design in Italy and have 4 extra diplomas in couture gowns pattern-cutting, bespoke womenswear, fashion styling and general womenswear pattern-cutting, and I still feel like it was not enough and I keep on learning everyday. In order to have control over your collection you need to know what you are doing, how to turn a pretty drawing into a stunning garment, fix problems and obstacles and be able to tell your employees if they are doing something wrong and how to fix it.

Marilyn Monroe
What is your favorite part about being a designer?
I get to create something new and special everyday, the most amazing part of being a couture designer is that every client is looking to have a dream dress for an unforgettable occasion and I love being the one that makes that dream come true.
Tell us about your DONATELLA FABIO brand?
Donatella Fabio is a luxury brand that creates feminine and romantic couture dresses.
We specialize in handmade details and beading, personalize each dress to our customer’s needs and make a careful selection of imported precious fabrics and materials in order to create unique pieces.
How did you select the materials you used?
It really depends on the dress, sometimes I design a dress and I look for the fabrics that will look best according to the design, but many times I buy beautiful fabrics without knowing what I will be creating with them, and when I feel inspired I play with them and make something beautiful.
What is different from your brand to other brands?
We try to have a style that is hyper feminine and with a lot of handmade details. One of the main things that make us different, is that we do not produce big quantities, most of our dresses have a maximum production of 3 pieces, and many other times we do unique pieces for our clients.
How do you stay up to date regarding fashion?
When you are in the business I think it comes quite natural, of course it’s important to know the trends and your market, but somehow it naturally fuses in when I start creating a new collection.
Describe your creative process?
It changes every time! Sometimes I start with a moodboard, some other times I see something that inspires me and have to design in that very moment, sometimes I create according to who my client is and what are her needs and some other times I play with the fabrics and start creating!
I love to have the freedom to create in different ways!
Tell us about a project or collection which has been your greatest achievement?
My Bridal collection “Aria” gave me a lot of satisfaction, it was my first bridal collection and my first bridal fashion show, and it received an incredibly positive feedback!
Who are some of your favorite models and designers, and why?
Models would have to be Karlie Kloss and Isabeli Fontana, they both have a mix of classic and sensual beauty.
My favorite designer is Tamara Ralph from Ralph & Russo, she is a young super talented designer, her romantic style and all the details and work that go into her collections are simply mesmerizing.
Where do you see yourself or your company 5 years from now?
I see myself having an international brand, my scope is to start growing slowly but surely in an international scale. We are taking our first steps in the US right now and I’m sure it will be a great success.

What advice do you have other aspiring fashion designers?
That they need to listen to themselves in order to find their own path & style. Fashion is such a big business with so many different sectors that is easy to get lost and not know where to go, everyone will have an opinion of what you should do or not do and most of the times listening to that advice makes it worse. So experimenting a little here and there and realizing which creations make you more satisfied and fit your style, is the key to finding your way, get better each day and enjoying your job everyday.
