[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Check our interview with insanely cool, up-and-coming pop group Crimson Apple made up of four sisters from Hawaii.
Since the band’s inception in 2012, Crimson Apple have shared the stage with such venerated artists as All Time Low, One Republic, Switchfoot, The Green, Will Champlain, and Hawaiian music legends, HAPA. The group’s 2015 self-released debut album, Hello, garnered commercial success in Hawaii and across the internet, and earned nominations for Alternative Album of the Year, Most Promising Artist of the Year, and Group of the Year at the Na Hoku Hanohano Awards–Hawaii’s equivalent of the Grammy Awards.
Since relocating to Los Angeles, Crimson Apple have performed in numerous venues in California, Nevada, Colorado and Pennsylvania, signed a management and recording deal with Amuse Group (Perfume, BABYMETAL, ONE OK ROCK) and landed a spot on this year’s High School Nation Tour. With undeniable chemistry on and off stage, and a musical bond only sisters could share, Crimson Apple seem to have all the makings to be pop music’s next big thing.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”25997″ img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]Hi girls, please tell us a little about you?
Hello! We are four sisters from Hawaii, currently making music in California. 🙂
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Three words to describe our band would be Energetic, Cinematic, and Bold.
What is your musical background?
Growing up, there was a lot of classic rock and smooth jazz in the house because that’s what our parents listened to. At an early age, we all participated in musical theatre and dance competitions. That was really the beginning of our experience in the arts. As we got older, we all started to develop our own musical tastes, and over time, picked up our own perspective instruments. We listen to a wide variety of genres, including pop, alternative, rock, Japanese rock, k-pop, etc.
Is your family musical?
Our dad was in a family band when he was younger, and we have a lot of relatives who are musicians as well. Music is definitely in our genes!
How would you describe your music?
We would describe our sound as a dark, cinematic pop-alternative. Although we do write about a lot of darker themes, our goal has always been to be a positive force in the world and to let people know that they’re not alone in their struggles.
How did you get started?
It all started with our lead singer, who began singing at a very young age. When she was in high school, she started a band and recruited Shelby, who at the time, had just picked up the electric guitar, inspired by bands like Paramore, Panic At the Disco, and Fall Out Boy. They performed in that band for about a year. Being surrounded by the music, Faith and Carthi started expressing interest in their own instruments. Carthi always felt a deep connection to the bass, while Faith was really inspired by our dad who also played drums. There came a point where we all decided it made sense to form a band with the four of us, thus creating Crimson Apple. The moment we started playing together, we realized immediately that it was what we were always meant to do.
What is your next goal as a musician?
We just recently began touring this past year, so it would be amazing to do a full North American tour, and eventually tour internationally. We’ve also been working on a lot of new music, so our next goal is to release an EP early next year. We are so excited to show everyone what we’ve been working on!
Tell us about your single “Can’t Get Out of Bed”?
Can’t Get Out of Bed is about struggling with depression, and having a hard time explaining it to the people in your life. There still seems to be a stigma around depression that makes it really hard for people to ask for help, or even tell other people what they’re going through. This song is inspired by our lead singer who recently struggled with this issue. We wrote this song in hopes that other people will realize they’re not alone in this, and that it’s okay to be honest about their struggles.[/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMWJkFIpolY” title=”CRIMSON APPLE – Can’t Get Out of Bed”][vc_column_text]How is it working with the Amuse Group?
Working with Amuse has been such an amazing experience! It’s awesome having the support of such a successful company. With Amuse, we’ve been able to meet so many amazing new people and create the music we’ve always wanted to make!
Any advice for upcoming singers?
If I had to give one piece of advice, as a vocalist it is important to always take care of your voice and your body. Find what works best for you, and if it hurts, always stop and adjust. Singing should feel effortless and free. If you’re in a position to get voice lessons, I would definitely recommend it. It makes a world of difference when you have a coach that you really connect with, who can help you maintain your voice for years to come.
Which artists would you like to collaborate with?
Twenty One Pilots, Halsey, Taylor Swift, and The Neighborhood would definitely be in our top.

Best advice ever given?
One thing we’ve noticed through out our career as musicians is that God or the universe has always placed random strangers at specific points in our life to give us encouragement and advice that’s incredibly specific to what we’re dealing with at the moment. Its never one specific piece of advice, but as a whole this is what has always given us the push to keep going no matter what we’re struggling with.
Idea of a perfect Sunday?
Colby: Either lounging in my Pjs or going for a hike (whatever I’m feeling that morning lol) and spending time with the important people in my life
Faith: Church and game night with our best friends ^~^

What do you think of Social Media?
