Over the last seven years, she has worked with numerous established producers. Her latest work is called “Unknown”.
“I wrote ‘Unknown’ because I was struggling with difficult life choices and was in a place where I was trying to find who I wanted to become. It’s challenging as a young adult to navigate life with the pressure of todays society. Through my music I hope to empower other young adults to find their voice, and to not cave into the status quo.”[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”26975″ img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]Tell us about your new music video “Unknown”?
I wrote the song based on the fact that, I was transitioning into a teenager, and life experiences were taking me to the unknown. The unknown to me is the journey to adulthood and the unexpected life ahead. The video depicts the different personas that I’m exploring.

My biggest strength is having the confidence to not be afraid of judgment, and show my fans who I am, and have them be engaged.
What is your musical background?
I have never been professionally trained. I started off very young performing in school talent shows and fell in love with the spotlight. I went to singing camps in the summer too. Everything was so fun for me, and I gravitated towards music.
What is the hardest thing about being a musician?
At my age, the hardest thing to do is create my own sound and niche.
Do you ever get nervous?
No. When doing what you love, what’s there to be nervous about?
What’s next for Mariel darling in 2019?
I still plan to create more dope content and add more to my collection! 2018 was the year of writing songs, I have 7 in the works. All scheduled to be released as singles soon!
How would you describe your fashion style?
My style is edgy, a little urban, yet with flirty, and girly accents. Black is my favorite color to wear. Fun Fact: The only jeans that are ripped! Coming soon, I even wrote a song called New Scene, and I quote “living in my ripped jeans.”
What’s something that no one knows about you?
I wrote my first song when I was 2 years old called, “Over The Hill,” on a yellow plastic, Little Tikes Piano.
What music do you like?
Of course, I like mainstream pop most of the time. I have a wide range of favorites. I love hip-hop, rap, and EDM too.
How important is social media?
It’s super important, it’s how I connect with my fans. They inspire me to create more music, and I love staying in contact with them.
