Early to bed, early to rise, makes a lady healthy, wealthy, and wise. We all heard this at some point in our childhood, not knowing the science behind it. Yes, there is such a thing as beauty sleep and it’s something that the women of today should have every now and then.
Sure enough, a study in the Royal Society Open Science Journal explains that poor sleep could make a person less attractive. Of course, eye bags and fatigue are just some of the most obvious effects of sleeplessness, but the consequences go beyond that.
Without adequate sleep, we turn people away, mostly because of how ill we look after an all-nighter.
So, it makes sense for us to get some beauty sleep so we can look more confident, attractive, and capable the morning after! Here are a few tips to get you started:
1. Avoid bad habits
Drinking and smoking are a comfort to some, but they make for a bad combination. Smoking contains nicotine and other chemicals that can actually cause sleeplessness. This is the reason most people view cigarettes as an essential pick-me-up. Booze, as much as it causes people to pass out from too much consumption, could also affect the quality of sleep. So, the first thing you can do to snooze better is to kick these nasty vices out of your system!
2. Take a hot bath
Who doesn’t want a hot bath before hitting the hay? Warm water is known for its therapeutic abilities. Not only that, but it also gives the skin a deep clean by opening up the pores. Being an effective stress-reliever itself, a hot bath could also leave you feeling rejuvenated and eliminate the usual thoughts that keep you up at night.
3. Prep your mattress
Your evening rituals should culminate with you retreating to your mattress. To some, it’s not just any piece of furniture but an important component of their day. That said, make your bed first thing in the morning by fluffing up the pillows and the foam of the mattress itself. On the other hand, you might want to replace the mattress altogether, especially if the springs are sticking out from underneath the foam. But if you don’t have a thing for mattresses, you might want to shop around for the best futons or any other sleeping setup that you might find useful.
4. Change your fabrics
Are the pillow covers too rough? Does your blanket not give you any comfort at all? If that’s the case, then you might want to consider changing the fabrics to a different material. Look along the lines of satin and microfiber. These often give the optimal comfort that will really support your beauty sleep.
Getting your daily dose of beauty sleep will do more than energize you the next day. It will also help you look good and feel good about yourself, giving you the confidence to face everything that comes your way.
