Hi Elizabeth, please tell us a little about you?
I am a Dominican-American actress and meditation facilitator. I am a first generation American. I am passionate about the power that we carry as human beings to hold ourselves, each other and the planet in a loving presence. I love coffee and wine and deep conversations, the oceans, the forests, the mountains.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Boss ass bitch.
Who is your role model?
My parents! their story is amazing.
How did you get started into acting?
I started in a theater program in high school then went to a conservatory style training program for college, so my foundation is the classics. After working in theater for a while I moved to LA and started working in commercials, then eventually television and film.
How has this changed your life?
Being an actor gives me a creative way to use my experiences and emotions no matter how difficult. It also makes me a person who is very curious about people.
What is the best and worst part of being an actress?
Best part is feeling seen and appreciated by colleagues who inspire me so much. Hardest part is overcoming the voice in my head that says I’m not enough.
Tell us about your work on Freeform series “Party of Five?”
Working on a show that depicts real life situations that so many of my fellow Latinx community are going through was so meaningful for me. The cast and crew are world class and the character I play, ‘Sully,’ is smart, loving and fierce so that was a gift as well.
Now tell us about your work for highly anticipated video game “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order?”
It was a dream come true on so many levels. I mean who doesn’t want to be a Star Wars villain? I had also always dreamt of doing motion capture and having my own action figure – so a lot of dreams came true with this job. The team behind this game in every department was truly phenomenal.
What other projects you have been part of?
I’ve been gigging around for a while. I recently starred in a slasher comedy called Road Head where I got to kick ass and take names. Later this year I will be working on a sci fi thriller called Saturn.
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
Honestly, paying the bills. I don’t mean that in a superficial way. Being able to take care of myself and my people by following my dream is something I’m proud of. I could have easily given up or tried something less risky but every day I wake up and I bet on myself and I’m proud of that.
What kind of roles do you like or would like to play and why?
I can’t wait to play an astronaut. I would love to play someone with powers in a film. Also a zombie killer who is also a single mom would be amazing, haha!
How do you balance your busy work life with your personal life?
I prioritize meditation and staying connected with family – they keep me in check. As for work, I literally just do the best I can. I don’t slave over stuff, I don’t lose sleep, I just do as much as I can to the best of my ability each day and I leave the rest to God.
What is your favorite healthy food?
I love warm, flavorful foods like my mom’s arroz con pollo. She makes it with tostones y ajo. Best dish ever.
And your favorite cheat food?
Really good fried chicken. No contest.
How would you explain your fashion style?
Simple, elegant, sexy, timeless. I love comfort while being feminine.
How would your best friend describe you?
She would say I’m “magic.” Ugh love her so much.
What’s next for Elizabeth Grullón in 2020?
The plan is for me to meet many of my Star Wars fans at conventions, travel and work on the film Saturn but Coronavirus has changed everything for all of us so who knows. Right now I’m simply focusing on gratitude and praying for all who are sick.
What is your own definition of happiness?
I think happiness is a state of acceptance. Acceptance brings peace and peace is happiness.
How is a normal day in your life?
These days I’m in LA on shutdown so a normal day right now if very different than it was. I’ve been sleeping in, having luxurious breakfasts with lots of coffee. Meditation, emails, a walk. Cook a beautiful dinner while a record plays. Finish with a bath.
Best advice ever given?
“Persevere.”
Name 3 things you can’t live without?
Jasmine oil, dry sauvignon blanc, good skincare
What do you think of Social Media?
I think it’s an amazing tool for connection that also preys on our insecurities.
