Hi Shab, please tell us a little about you?
I am a singer-songwriter who is thrilled to finally have a chance pursue this passion.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Fierce, kind & authentic
Who has made the biggest impact on your life so far, and why?
My mother has shown me how to be a strong independent woman while giving my love to those deserving and remaining a wholehearted human being. She raised 13 children by herself — I am Baby Number 13 – and taught me about treating people with love and respect. She made me the woman I am today.
How did you get started in the business?
I’ve always been in love with music. Music has always been my escape to the unknown, it’s in my blood. My older brother Shahab is a well-known singer Farsi singer and inspired me to pursue my singing career.
Did you go to music school?
I actually took my share of voice lessons and along with theater/acting during college. I did some modeling during my early twenties, but music was always my passion.
Describe your sound in 3 words?
My music is comprised of the stories that I love – and my sound tends towards a melodic uplifting vibe.
Who influenced you and why did you choose to make music?
What influenced me most was growing up in a musical house where there was lots of dancing and music. Even more materially, my brother’s professional pursuit of a music career made me so happy and inspired me to follow my own dreams. I find that I am influenced by anyone with honesty and vulnerability at the heart of their music.
Do you ever get nervous?
I don’t typically get nervous but can be anxious sometimes. It’s maybe a fine distinction, but for me being anxious is about taking those nerves and using them to drive you. I think a minor case of nerves is good for the soul – almost like getting those butterfly tingles from that first kiss.
Describe your sound in 3 words?
See my answer to Question 6.
What is your next goal as a musician?
I would like to be able to help and inspire people through my music to overcome challenges — giving them hope, lightness and lots of dancing.
Now tell us about your single “Spell on Me?”
Spell On Me is about the mysteries of love – about feeling powerless and powerful at the same time. We imagine that there’s a girl who can place a spell on any man that she wants: but there’s one particular guy who came from a different world and her charms is not working on him. Her spell on him isn’t working – but his spell, in surprising fact, is. That’s where the story goes.

How was working with Grammy-winning producer Damon Sharpe?
It’s pretty fantastic. Damon is a massively talented, attention-to-detail kinda guy. We work very well together and he really gets my sense of vibe and music as a singer and songwriter. I respect him immensely and consider him & his family as my own.
Do you have a tour coming up or where we can see you performing?
Not yet – but don’t be surprised if we have developments in that regard to share following more musical releases later in the year.
What we can expect of SHAB in 2020?
Lots more music! We will have at least two more singles with associated video treatments: and then my first English album will be released following the passing of the current global pandemic. It will definitely be time to dance!
What is your favorite song to belt out in the car/for karaoke?
Diamonds by Rhianna or Ain’t Nobody by Chaka Khan.
Name one your strengths?
Determination. if I want something badly enough, I never think about giving up until I get it. I am relentlessly determined.
What is your own definition of happiness?
My definition of happiness is rooted in living your truth: being 100% authentic to yourself. Happiness is about being present and being content with where you find yourself at any moment in your journey.
Any loves other than music?
Aside from my family, my kids and partner? I love cooking, traveling the world and learning new cultures. On a daily basis, I am most content when spending time with my family and friends, and practicing random acts of kindness.
Any exiting news you want to share with us?
Once the world gets back to normal, we will be doing some promotional traveling — featuring some live performances — towards introducing my music to new audiences and venues.
How’s a typical day in your life?
Invariably, the first thing is to wake up and get the kids ready for pre-school. I have mantras and positive quotes for reflection when working out — running, lifting or yoga. And I love my hot lemon water and giant green smoothie in the morning. I will also devote some time each day towards reaching out to my fanbase on social media, responding to emails, sending out merchandise if needed, working on music production, wrestling with the kids.
Idea of a perfect Sunday?
My idea of a Perfect Sunday is Slow Down Time — enjoying time with friends and family, expressing gratitude through my mantras and my daily meditations. When we start each day with a grateful heart, light illuminates from within. As I grow older and ‘wiser,’ I find that life is more about what we make of our situation and less about the situation itself. It’s not so much about what we have, but very much about what we do with the gifts given to us. I love going to church too, singing while praising God.
What is your favorite healthy food?
Anything seafood, grilled. Fruits & veggies all day long.
And your favorite cheat food?
I don’t believe in cheating. If I want it, I’ll have it – no regrets. The same with food: if I crave or want something I’ll have it. But everything in balance and moderation.
Who is your biggest beauty inspiration?
There are too many from which to choose — but if I had to pick one, I would say Audrey Hepburn. I love her quotability and timeless sense of fashion.
What would be a deal breaker on a first date?
Poor manners.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
It would be my father, whom I lost when I was 6 months old. I would tell him that I love him and give him a big hug. His passion for life, his laughter and generous heart lives in my soul and being! And I want to thank him for loving my mom unconditionally and setting an example for me as how a man should treat his woman.
How do you see yourself in 5 years?
Living in the present moment, just like I choose to do now. Vocationally, I am hopeful to be fortunate enough to perform around the world and exploring my music boundaries.
How would you describe your fashion style?
My fashion style is idiosyncratic yet simple, depending on my mood and setting. I love dressing sophisticated, elegant, & sexy when appropriate — but also crave comfort while being feminine and feeling beautiful and sexy in my own skin. To me, clothing and makeup are just accessories that should quickly done.
What do you think of Social Media?
For my career, I think social media is very important as it’s a great manner of connecting with others. As a platform, it’s a place to let your voice to be heard and to inspire and support one another. I believe that social media is a huge part of building a brand and keeping in touch with those who support you.
