Ariane introduces this passionate love affair she’s having with mentions of old school films (Some Like it Hot) and hides sexual innuendo within the functions of a VHS player. Though she’s describing a very hands-on relationship, she reminisces on youthful memories of first-time lust to soften the overwhelming passion of this relationship. The repetitive nature of the chorus intertwines with the other verses to paint a clear picture of her sexual desire.

Hi Ariane, please tell us a little about you?
Alright, I am 24 Franco-American that eats way too much sushi!
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Humorous, caring, goal driven.
Who has made the biggest impact on your life so far, and why?
Hmm… Not to sound too cliché, but I’d have to say my parents. I owe them everything. I don’t think I’d ever have the confidence to do the things I am doing without their constant support and encouragement.
How did you get started in the business?
My love for music began at a young age. However, I didn’t really think I could make a career of it until I got accepted into Berklee College of Music. It was only then that I thought- “hey, maybe I can actually do this!” After graduation, I hit the ground running and moved to LA to pursue songwriting and my artistry.
Did you go to music school?
I did! I attended Berklee College of Music and graduated with a degree in Songwriting.
Describe your sound in 3 words?
Moody, cinematic, dark.
Who influenced you and why did you choose to make music?
As a young girl, I really looked up to Pop/RnB power houses such as Beyonce. Once I began my journey at Berklee College of Music I really started getting into Lana Del Rey—I am still obsessed with her to this day. I find her coherency as an artist truly inspiring; she creates a world for her audience.
Now tell us about your new single “VHS?”
You know that feeling you have when you’re first starting to get to know someone you like; simply touching knees can be electric! ‘VHS’ is my take on the first stages of love that remind you of your first encounters with love. By taking that nostalgic route I found it obvious to draw inspiration from the 80s.
Do you ever get nervous?
I always get nervous right before a show but that fades away pretty fast once I’m on stage.
What is your next goal as a musician?
At the moment, I’ve only put out singles. My next move is to release an album; I feel like I will have a better chance to delve deeper in my message. I’m excited to share what’s already in the works!
Do you have a tour coming up or where we can see you performing?
Unfortunately, no. I’ve been sketching up a plan for a tour but it fell through with everything going on in the world. Hopefully once the pandemic is handled I’ll be able to pick up where I left off.

What is you favorite song to belt out in the car/for karaoke?
You can never go wrong with ‘Mr. Brightside’ by The Killers.

Dedicated; anything I start I have to finish.
What is your own definition of happiness?
Being content with what I have.
Any loves other than music?
Growing up in Paris I was surrounded by art and fashion and I guess I was influenced by my surrounding. I love to paint and always had an interest in fashion.
Any exiting news you want to share with us?
I can’t exactly say but, let’s just put it this way: exciting collaborations coming your way!
How’s a typical day in your life?
Right now, with the pandemic my typical day has changed a lot. Usually I’ll get up, go to the gym and then head to a writing session and end my day going to a show down in Hollywood. Currently I’m in the countryside in France waiting out the lockdown. My days here generally begin with a long walk in the vineyards, then I’ll paint or dabble on the piano and have writing sessions or meetings. It hasn’t been so bad but I miss seeing live music!
Idea of a perfect Sunday?
Not to sound too LA but I love to go to the flea market or farmers market. I love Sundays in LA because everything happens here on a Sunday for some reason. An ideal end of any day for me is topped off with some Sugarfish; absolutely love it!
What is your favorite healthy food?
FRUIT. I am obsessed with anything in the berry or melon family.
And your favorite cheat food?
Hmm Dim Sum or sushi.
What would be a deal breaker on a first date?
If I haven’t laughed more than once then things aren’t looking too good.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
This one’s a hard one. Right now I’d have to say Tom Petty. I went to see him in concert on his last tour and it was incredible. I grew up listening to his music and I find it such a shame that we are now deprived of future albums. If I could meet him and get the chance to pick his brain and write a couple tunes I would ecstatic!
How do you see yourself in 5 years?
In the ideal world, I would be touring the world playing music while discovering places I’d never dreamed of seeing. I’d have my favorite group of friends and creatives to collaborate with; write, make videos, photos, etc.
How would you describe your fashion style?
It changes all the time but the constant decade I keep coming back to is the 70s; I am obsessed with bell bottoms and fringe.
What do you think of Social Media?
I’ve never been a huge fan of it. It used to make me feel like I wasn’t doing anything important because everyone else was posting everything cool happening in their lives. In reality, people usually only use social media to showcase the ‘highlight reel’ of their lives. I’d have to say; with the pandemic, I’ve noticed people have been showing a more transparent and authentic version of themselves. It’s refreshing to finally see that on the platforms!
