Interview with California Lifestyle Blogger Julie Hauptmann.
Please tell us a little about you.
I was born and raised in the Philippines and now based in Orange County
California. I’m married and with 2 kids and 1 puppy. I’ am an entrepreneur full
time, running a bookkeeping business, and managing investment properties with
my husband. I’m also a digital creator part-time.
In April 2018, I founded my blog julescali.com which is a lifestyle, travel, and
fashion blog as a creative outlet.
During my free time, I love to cook gourmet food with my husband and enjoy
walking on the beach near my home in Laguna with our pet Maple.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Generous, Punctual and Reliable.
Name one of your strengths?
Always Positive.
Who is your biggest supporter?
My husband.
Best advice ever given?
Do not ever stop learning and growing as a person.
Who has made the biggest impact on your life so far, and why?
My father who is a retired military engineer had influenced me profoundly. From
him, I learned how to appreciate simple things in life and how to be mindful and
grateful. He also taught me how to value and use money wisely which made me
very conscious and pay more attention to my finances.
My father never owned a credit card and always pays everything in cash until
now. He instilled in me the importance of financial freedom and how money can
affect your future if not spent wisely. I remember him telling me when I was young
“you use credit card because you can’t afford to buy what you want to buy,
always remember that debt will be your enemy later on”.. this advice has been a
constant reminder for me until adulthood which changed my perspective about
debt and wealth. When I met my husband, I could not believe that my husband
has the same point of view towards credit cards and debt. Do not get me wrong,
we still use our credit cards just to get points and perks, but we always make
sure that we pay in full when bills become due.
When you were a kid what did you want to be when you grew up?
A businesswoman.
What has been the greatest pinch-me moment in your career?
When I started to build my own business and can still travel the world.
What did you learn from your biggest failure?
Do not get discouraged, keep going.
Now tell us about any current projects you are working on
Vlog on YouTube documenting my lifestyle, travel, and fashion. My husband and I
are planning to semi retire next year, to explore the world and I want to document
our journey.
What is your favorite quote?
“You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.”
To what do you attribute your current success?
Family.
What is your favorite healthy food?
Beet salad.
And your favorite cheat food?
Truffle Chips.
What do you think of Social Media?
Social Media is a great tool for everyone. It has improved the way we
communicate and can learn from it multiple ways.
