Check out our interview with talented actress Audrey Grace Marshall who can be seen in the HBO Max original series The Flight Attendant. Audrey plays the role as ‘Young Cassie,’ the younger version of Kaley Cuoco’s titular character in the high-profile dark comedy thriller. Based on the novel of the same name by New York Times best-selling author Chris Bohjalian; in addition to Marshall, the series stars Michiel Huisman, Rosie Perez, Zosia Mamet, and T.R. Knight.
In 2019 Audrey Grace co-led an ensemble cast including KJ Apa and Maia Mitchell in the Netflix romantic comedy, The Last Summer. Continuing her relationship with Netflix, she portrayed a younger ‘Trish Walker’ (Rachael Taylor) in the final season of Marvel’s Jessica Jones.

How did you get started with acting?
I used to be very shy and my parents wanted to help me come out of my shell. They asked me if I could do ANYTHING what would it be? At that time I was 7 years old and obsessed with the Disney show, Liv and Maddie, so I said I wanted to be on TV. Things kind of snowballed from there and here I am today. I still have the dream of being on a Disney show, it’s definitely a goal of mine.
How has it changed your life?
I was born in Indiana and now I live in NYC, so that’s a pretty big change. But aside from the geographical move, being an actor has given me a tremendous amount of confidence. I know that I can do anything, as long as I stay focused and grounded.
What is the best and worst part of being an actress?
I think for me, the best part is getting the opportunity to work with incredible actors and having the experience of being on set. It is amazing and I absolutely love it. I don’t really think there is a “worst” part of being an actor. I love it all. Sometimes you get rejected for parts you want, but that doesn’t affect me in a negative way. I firmly believe if it’s meant to be, it’ll happen.
Tell us about your work in HBO Max’s original series “The Flight Attendant”
I play young Cassie, which is the lead character (Kaley Cuoco) as a child. The show is about how an entire life can change in one night. It’s a dark comedic thriller based on the New York Times bestselling novel by Chris Bohjalian. It’s really suspenseful!
And about your role as young Cassie?
My role as young Cassie is to help the audience understand why Cassie is the way she is and to empathize with her and understand the choices she makes. Cassie didn’t grow up in a traditional household. Her relationships with her family, her father in particular, are pretty dysfunctional.
How did you prepare for this role?
I read the book. It was so good. It gave me a great understanding of what Cassie was going through and helped me relate to her on a personal level.
What has been your favorite role to play to date?
Definitely THIS ONE!! Playing Young Cassie, working with Kaley Cuoco, Jason Jones, Michiel Huisman, and all the other incredible actors, executives, crew, etc. on this project was a dream come true. Hands down, the best experience of my life as an actor so far!
What kind of roles do you like or would like to play and why?
I really like playing serious roles. I enjoy the deeper emotional parts that allow me to really show my skills as an actor. I want to choose parts that show my range and allow me to lay the foundation for a successful career.
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
I think for me, the most rewarding part of my work is seeing the finished product. I love being part of a story that people can watch and enjoy. It’s pretty magical for me.
How would your best friend describe you?
Passionate. I tend to go ALL IN on pretty much anything I do. Whether it’s for my work or for my friends, it’s the same energy, the same drive, and the same level of attention.
What’s next for Audrey Grace Marshall in the last months of 2020?
I am going to enjoy the holidays with my family and get ready for 2021! I’ve had enough of 2020, it’s time to put it behind me, lol
What is your own definition of happiness?
I call it my “winning streak”. I get to wake up and do what I love, I’m already winning… I try to find happiness in “wins” throughout the day. It could be something small, like a sunny day or that I’m drinking my favorite peanut butter banana smoothie, or it could be something big, like booking a good role… I just try to find the joy in everything and that ends up making me happy. I am a firm believer in putting good vibes into the universe.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be?
Tom Holland. Tom Holland. Tom Holland.
Best advice ever given?
Acting is like surfing, there may be times when you catch a big wave. Then the water calms and you have to sit and wait for the next one. Another one will come along but someone else might catch it. Eventually, your wave will come and you’ll catch it and ride it and it’ll be amazing! Endurance always wins.
Tell us about your involvement with Susie’s Senior Dogs.
I am obsessed with Susie’s Senior Dogs. Although I’m not involved in a hands-on way, I love this organization and I want to help spread the word that senior dogs need love too.
It is a wonderful nonprofit organization that helps find surrendered senior dogs forever homes. Sometimes people are worried about adopting an older dog, but they have so much love to give and make incredible pets. Where do you see yourself and your career 5 years from now?
Working! I want to win an Oscar someday, so I would love to be working on good projects that lead to more good roles so that I can fulfill that dream.
Favorite song? Why?
Thunder Road by Bruce Springsteen. It’s an anthem for following your dreams and taking a chance on a better life. I mean he says it in the song… take a chance, have some faith, life is what you make it. Yeah… best song ever!
What do you think of Social Media?
It’s overrated. I’m not a big fan. I think way too much emphasis is placed on likes and it’s not real. It promotes negative experiences by making people feel inadequate about their own life or appearance, which can trigger anxiety and depression. So, for me, it’s a no. I do have Instagram which is parent run, but it’s more to promote my acting and upcoming projects. I do not personally use it.
