Check out our interview with NYC resident and Pop singer-songwriter Marilyn Hucek who is releasing her second single of 2021, “Touch Me” next week. The single continues Marilyn’s theme of female empowerment through its lyrics that encourage love, uplifting women, and discussing sexual health out loud.
Marilyn Hucek on “Touch Me”: “‘Touch Me’ is a song that celebrates love and female sexual wellness. It touches on the need for physical connection. It’s releasing just in time for Valentine’s Day and I want it to be a song that people play over and over again, but especially during the holiday weekend. I’ll be sending out special Valentine’s Day gift packages to anyone who pre-saves my song!”

Hi Marilyn, please tell us a little about you?
My name is Marilyn, and I’m an emerging pop artist based in NYC/DC. I’m bilingual and had a multicultural upbringing due to my mom being Chilean and my dad American. I debuted my first single last summer dedicated to my father who has Alzheimer’s and contracted Covid-19 while at a nursing home. It was a really emotional time, but luckily he beat the virus. I’m a full-time musician now, and so excited about my journey. I hope you can join me!
We recently did an interview together, but now we heard that you have a new single out. Tell us about your new single “Touch Me?”
It’s a pleasure to be able to connect again! Thanks for the opportunity to share more about my new single “Touch Me”.
“Touch Me” is releasing just in time for Valentine’s Day. It’s a sensual/sexy song meant to celebrate love and physical connection. It has a hip/hop influence which is something I haven’t explored before, so I’m really excited to see how you like it.
“Touch Me” is meant to give women the confidence to own their sexuality, and to celebrate sexual wellness. The promo shoot was boudoir inspired to emphasize this. For those that are unfamiliar with boudoir photography, it’s an incredible art form that explores body confidence and a very powerful experience. I highly suggest everyone try it!
What’s the story behind this track?
The song came to me in an organic way. I just started singing it one day. In a time where we are all social-distancing, and deprived of hugs from family and friends, it makes sense that I created a song to counteract what’s going on. Life is all about balance.
Furthermore, I know myself and I’m a big physical connection type of person. I love to hug, and cuddle, and be caressed; it makes me feel good and happy. So in part, this song is just spilling out what I need in order to feel loved. It’s important to be in touch with yourself and understand that.
Now about the success of your hit single, “I’m Not Sorry?”
“I’m Not Sorry” has gained thousands of streams on Spotify, and I’m thrilled!!! I made a merchandise line of items like a mug, tote bag, and unisex eco-friendly sweatshirt that all have the phrase “I’m Not Sorry” on them. You can shop it on ETSY! It’s a fun saying but also a reminder to not say “sorry” unnecessarily! I live by that saying now, it’s not just a song it’s a principle!
The music video for “I’m Not Sorry”, is set to release the first week of March in tandem with Women’s International Month/day! Stay tuned, it’s going to be a fun one!
What’s next for Marilyn Hucek in 2021?
I’m working on releasing my debut EP in March, a pole dancing music video for “Touch Me,” and an enjoyable summer hit song that’s going to be very, very different from anything I’ve released so far. I can’t wait to share!
What advice would you give to those who want to be in this business?
If you’re not already in the business, then what are you waiting for?! Listen to my new song “Dreams”, it’s meant to inspire you to follow your dreams. If it’s your dream you should chase it! The worst thing that can happen is that you tried and it didn’t work out. At least you tried!
Who has made the biggest impact on your life so far, and why?
I’d say my producer has made the biggest impact on my musical life so far. He has been like a mentor to me and has helped me tackle the music industry head-on.
What is the best city that you have traveled to as a tourist/working?
I’m not sure why, but I’m a huge fan of Paris. I went for my birthday last year right before we knew about Covid-19, and it was one of the best trips of my life. I love everything about Paris, especially the fashion! I wish I knew how to speak French, I took it in college and was an A student, but if you don’t practice you lose it! Paris is a city I hope to travel to multiple times in my life.
What’s your motto or the advice you live by?
I have a “sayings board” in my home recording studio that I can manually change the letters around at any time. Right now it says “reach for the stars”. I think it’s important to have big dreams and to not limit yourself to what think you’re capable of achieving.
What do you do in your free time?
Free time…hmm. I have a never-ending to-do list however I do believe in balance and taking breaks to clear the mind and re-set so that you can always give your 110%. I like to cook, read, and workout in my free time. These past times allow my brain to take a break and are important to set myself up for inspiration. I’m a plant-based vegetarian so meal prep is a real thing and I always like to cook fresh and use whole ingredients.
