Check out our interview with Rising Country-Pop Artist Alexandria Corn (ACORN) who just released her hit new single “Anti-Social”
The single opens up with a celestial swell, the song abruptly scratches all notions of that clean from the record and compels you forward with an arresting guitar riff. It’s easy to imagine this as a rock song until you hit the chorus and ACORN ditches the raspiness and blows you away with the clear, crisp, full range and force of her voice. Despite being uncomfortable in a crowded room, ACORN’s rough-around-the-edges persona gives anyone willing to see an inside look at the devilish reality contained inside an otherworldly voice.

Hi Alexandria, please tell us a little about you?
I’m a musician residing in Nashville, TN, but I grew up in Upstate NY. Since then, I have lived in over 3 of the biggest cities in the US. I started music at a very young age after I was accepted onto the hit TV show, American Idol. That triggered me moving to Los Angeles and pursuing music further. I have since then played many Country festivals including Country Fest, Stagecoach, Coastal Country Jam, and more. I have been lucky enough to open for some musicians who I have always looked up to: Blake Shelton, Toby Keith, Jake Owen, Deana Carter, Montgomery Gentry & others. I am currently working on a pop project under my new stage name, ACORN. I have already written and released 3 singles, with more on the way.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
I am very dynamic, adaptable and very self-motivated.
We’re sure you have been asked this million times but how did you get in the industry?
After American Idol, I was invited to attend a summer music camp in LA working with some of the best producers, writers and performers in the industry. That sealed the deal for me. I worked very hard honing my craft for years & years. I met some of the most incredible, talented people, who I really owe my career to. If it wasn’t for some of them and their desire to help me with their connections, I would not be where I am.
Describe your sound in 3 words?
Edgy, unique, moody
Who influenced you and why did you choose to make music?
Nobody per say influenced me to be a musician. I didn’t even know I was taking this path until it chose me. After my parents divorce, creating and writing music was the only thing that didn’t keep me from going insane. With every song I wrote, I really wanted to keep expanding the boundaries of the last. I have always liked playing with different sounds and energies. I believe that is why I have dabbled in so many different genres.
Do you play any instrument?
Very little guitar and keyboard, but not well enough to accompany myself. I’m trying to get better at both of them!
Do you ever get nervous?
Yes, of course! A wise man (my old vocal coach) once said to me, “if you aren’t nervous, you are not alive.” That quote has stuck with me for years!
Tell us about your new single “Anti-Social?”
I wrote “Anti-Social” with two of my co-writers, Khiana Noel, and Jackson Nance. The song dropped only a week ago and is already buzzing on the scene. I am so thankful for that!
What’s the story behind this song?
I had an interesting night out a few days before we wrote this song. I came into the studio telling my co-writers (Khiana Meyer and Jackson Nance) all about it and how sometimes I just wish I didn’t go out on nights that I don’t feel like it. But we always feel the pressure from friends, and I always end up thinking “just go, maybe you will have a good time.” It’s funny because when I lived in Los Angeles, I loved to go out at night and have drinks and dance. Since then, though, I feel like my social anxiety level has dropped immensely (LOL). Long story short, I went out, waited in a line to get into a bar around 9:30 p.m., and everyone around me was drunk off of $14 Jack and Cokes. I had a group of girls who I have never met tell me to “cheer up” because I looked miserable. Well, they were right. I was. And I just wanted to go home and watch a movie with my dog. A few days later, I was grateful for that night because “Anti-Social” was written.
What is fun and rewarding about what you do? And what’s not?
Getting to connect with my fans & everyday people. Music brings us together. At the end of the day, whatever they are going through at that one moment of their life, I want to make that connection with them. I want to feel everything that they are: heartbreak, happiness, loss and all. I hope that my music brings them some kind of comfort, whatever that may be to them.
What are the five things you can’t live without?
My dog, he is a 2 year old Golden Retriever named Shamus. He is my baby! Other things I can’t live without would be my iced coffees, candles, creative expression, the word of God, and sweatpants.
What’s next for Alexandria Corn (ACORN) in 2021?
A lot more writing and recording! My plan right now is to release about a single a month, or every other month, and shows! I can’t wait to get back out on the road!
What is your favorite song? And why?
I have so many favorites. But I will say “All Too Well” by Taylor Swift has always been a song I wish I had written. I can feel every single word and emotion when I listen to that song.
What is the toughest decision you had to make in the last few months?
Canceling shows. I had to do it now so that later, we can all be together again. And healthy.
Any loves other than music?
Horseback riding. I have trained many years in Equestrian: Western and English. There is no better feeling than connecting with such a beautiful creature.
Best advice ever given?
It sounds cliché, but just be yourself. This industry will eat you alive if you don’t, and it will always come back to haunt you. I have learned this the hard way, especially being so young starting off in this industry. Labels and Managers will tell you how they want to mold you, when you are young and seem vulnerable. Just be real, be you.
How’s a typical day in your life?
Writing, eating (a lot), creating content, spending time with my dog and family!
Idea of a perfect Sunday?
Ordering takeout, hanging out with my boyfriend and puppy home watching a movie, or listening to a good album taking a drive.
What is you favorite song to belt out in the car/for karaoke?
“Girlfriend” by Avril Lavigne
“1985” by Bowling For Soup
Do you support any charities?
Yes, Animal Hope and wellness. They go undercover to foreign countries and rescue dogs who end up in the meat trade and dog fighting industry.
What is your favorite healthy food?
Chicken Caesar salad
And your favorite cheat food?
In N Out burgers and animal style fries
