Check out our interview with talented Singer & Songwriter Sydney Jaffe who just released her latest single called “Sweet Validation.” She wrote it with well known songwriter Sizzy Rocket (Noah Cyrus, Bea Miller) and producer Jesse Barrera.
The song has a personal touch and undertone to it, as she explains: “As a 21-year-old in college, it is so easy to get wrapped up in the need for attention and the need for validation from anyone and everyone I am surrounded by; that is really what this song is about. I barely hear people own up to the fact that we look for that validation when we act a certain way or when we post a certain picture on social media. This song, to me, is an anthem of admittance which is why it means more to me than ANY other song I have ever worked on.”

Describe yourself in 3 words?
Honest, Loud, Outgoing
We’re sure you have been asked this million times but how did you get in the industry?
It started with a love for musical theater and Broadway shows then developed into more of a passion for more of the music side.
Describe your sound in 3 words?
Urban, distinct, deep
Who influenced you and why did you choose to make music?
I think my biggest influences are Amy Winehouse and Demi Lovato just because of the soul and passion in their music. Though my music sounds nothing like theirs, they are always in the back of my mind when I am writing new songs because of how honest their sound is and how amazing the songs are lyrically as well.
Do you play any instrument?
I wouldn’t say I play piano but I do play a little bit.
Do you ever get nervous?
I only get nervous in front of smaller groups, never large audiences.
Tell us about your new single “Sweet Validation?”
“Sweet Validation” is my favorite song I have ever done because it is the most honest and it is the most me. It is a song about admitting that I do things for attention sometimes, or I do things for validation sometimes and that that is totally okay and I am totally okay with it. I think it is super special to be able to admit that there is kind of a messed up motivation behind some of the things we do because not many people can actually say out loud that they do some stupid or screwed up stuff or that they have a motive that is whole heartedly good.
What are the five things you can’t live without?
My family is #1 Nights with my best friends ordering in good food, good music and traveling.
What’s next for Sydney Jaffe in 2021?
Honestly, I’ll take anything at this point after 2020.
What is your favorite song? And why?
“Accidentally In Love” by the Counting Crows, you can’t not smile to that song.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
Meryl Streep. That is all.
Best advice ever given?
It isn’t about what others think of you that is going to push you to become who you are going to be, it is always going to be about what you think of yourself.
Name one your strengths?
Being able to laugh off hate.
Idea of a perfect Sunday?
Sleeping late, eating a bagel and a coffee, and doing basically nothing.
What is your favorite song to belt out in the car/for karaoke?
“Fine By Me” by Andy Grammar
What would be a deal breaker on a first date?
I think it really depends on the date but if the other person doesn’t ask me one question about myself, I wouldn’t want a second date for the life of me.
How would you describe your fashion style?
It changes literally every day but it is always simple.
What do you think of Social Media?
I think it is a great tool for marketing and networking but we have to be mindful of the environment it is creating. It can be and already is so toxic for certain people who are hoping to live up to certain expectations of looking and living a certain way. It can, however, be so great to market and promote brands or jobs or even be used to meet people so there are mixed feelings.
