Hi Robyn, please tell us a little about you?
My name is Robyn Sasha, I was born in London, United Kingdom. I’ve been writing songs from the age of 14 and began singing gospel in church in North London.
We’re sure you have been asked this million times but how did you get in the industry?
My dream was always to sing since a very young age. My mother enrolled me into one of the best Media Make Up schools in the U.K., and within 2 months I became a personal make-up artist to one of the biggest music groups in the country at the time. Since then many opportunities let me begin my musical journey.
Who influenced you and why did you choose to make music?
I was definitely influenced by ‘The Earth Song’ by Michael Jackson, which I grew up listening to. This song inspired me to use my voice & my platform to make a difference in this world. We are not here for very long so we should make a difference while we’re here and help as many people as we can.
Tell us about your hit singles “Kiss & Tell,” and “Bleed Red?”
‘Bleed Red’ I recorded out in Los Angeles with my dear friend Steve Dorff. The song was written by his son Andrew Dorff, who is sadly not here with us today but it’s lyrically one of the most beautiful songs and incredibly timely with everything that’s going on in the world today. ‘Kiss & Tell’ was another one of Steve’s songs which I filmed the music video in LA!
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
Being able to help others in need, even if it’s just the small things…anything helps. Being able to brighten someone else’s day to make life worth while. One little girl who stole my heart is my dearest Lyrah who sadly recently past away, but to know we spent the most beautiful day together when I was last in the U.K. means Everything to me.
What would say are the greatest lessons you learned so far?
Be careful who you trust. Never let bad people change your beautiful heart!
How would your best friends describe you?
I sent this question to my best friends and these were their responses!
“The sweetest soul to grace mankind ❤️❤️❤️”
“She is the kindest, most loving & giving person on this planet !”
“Robyn is the kindest, most peaceful and calm person to be around. Her determination and strength even in the face of crisis and heartbreak is admirable. Her passion and love for life is an inspiration and I am so proud to call her my best friend.
❤️❤️❤️❤️”
“Ooooo i would say, fiercely loyal, honest, gentle, very open hearted and generous in your love for others, incredibly talented, resilient, grateful and driven!! “
“I would describe you as empathetic, loving and bubbly x”
“Your a sweetheart
I would say your a loyal person
Keeps her circle small but her circle is like the ride or die circle
Your extremely funny but I don’t even think people realise how funny you are
You don’t give a dam about what people think your not concerned with materials you would give your sandwich to a homeless person rather than you eat
Don’t mess with her sushi though
Because I’m not sure she would give that away”
“Beautiful, determined and talented xxxxxx”
“I’m so incredibly blessed and grateful to literally have the most incredibly kind, thoughtful, compassionate and loyal best friends the type of best friends some people don’t even get to have 1 like them in their whole lifetime! You guys are my strength and my angels and I thank God for you all Everyday!”
What’s next for Robyn Sasha in 2021?
One of my songs recorded with the legendary songwriter/producer Steve Dorff is coming out in a Hollywood movie with one of the leading actresses from ‘Game Of Thrones. I’m currently living in Los Angeles, finishing my album ‘Butterfly’, working on my clothing line collection with a luxury fashion brand, writing my book, and filming my documentary.
What is your favorite healthy food?
Sushi sushi sushi!
And your favorite cheat food?
McDonalds breakfast!
What do you miss the most about London?
Definitely miss all my best friends and my family from London. Food wise, roast dinners and Nando’s!
How would you explain your fashion style?
My fashion style is sexy…but classy. Honestly my shoe closet consists of either 6 inch heels or sneakers! No in between! I’m most comfortable in sweats with a crop top, and my hair up with no make up.
What is your own definition of happiness?
Being healthy along with my loved ones, being around beautiful kind souls, and being able to make others feel happy is true happiness!
Best advice ever given?
Never give up regardless of what anyone tells you. Always listen to your inner voice because it’s your guide. Be kind always and never carry an unforgiving heart, for it will only harm you if you don’t.
Do you support any charity?
My dear friend Rocky Troiani has a charity called ‘BEKS’ (Bring Every Kind Smile) where he helps brighten the days of terminally ill children. He’s one of the kindest souls I’ve ever met and the work he does is incredible! I will forever support him and volunteer for his charity although it’s very tough & emotional, it’s completely worth it.
What do you think of Social Media?
Social media can be an amazing platform, especially in the music industry. It can also be a great way to re-connect with people you have lost touch with, or people on the other side of the world. I see it as a double-edged sword as it can be brilliant but also harmful. You just have to be careful as people can be frightfully cruel and use it for all the wrong reasons, making it a dangerous place.
Why did you name your Album Butterfly?
There’s a reason the Album’s title is ‘Butterfly’. Simply put, it signifies the final stage in a process of metamorphosis. A process that has been very significant in my life over the past few years.
Butterflies are incredible. I love that they can start from a caterpillar, then go through a great deal of darkness & pain in the cocoon and come out a beautiful butterfly. Humans are similar in that perspective as it completely resonates with me and my story.
I believe we should all learn from the butterfly as it doesn’t matter what pain or darkness we live through, we can come out the other side more beautiful than we ever were.
