Hi Coline, please tell us a little about you?
Hi! I am an R&B artist (singer/songwriter) born and raised in Houston, TX (now living in LA). I’ve always had a love for music and dance and I knew at a young age that singing was my passion. I was in a few girl groups growing up and sang in the gospel choir at Lamar High School. I attended Hampton University and upon graduation my journey as an artist really began.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Fun, Loving, Hard working….
How did you get started in the business?
I moved back to Houston after college and released my first single “Give and Take” – a song I wrote sitting in a corner of my college apartment after a bad breakup. I played it for my then manager and he linked me up with Happy Perez. That song went on the be #1 on Houston Radio for 6 weeks and thats when my really career started…
How has this changed your life?
It was the beginning of a life of doing what I love everyday and not only chasing the dream but living it too….
Do you play any instrument?
No
Do you ever get nervous?
Yes! I just channel the nervousness into positive energy. I always pray and get quiet before I perform, it helps keep me focused and grounded.
Tell us about your new single “Sometimes?”
“Sometimes” was co written with Sam Hook and produced by Happy Perez. Its a song about telling someone how you feel about them. A lot of times I think we take time, conversations, and love for granted. The message in the song is, if you love someone let them know.
What’s the story behind the song?
I called on Sam Hook to write with me on “Sometimes”. He is an amazing story teller and always brings something different out of me. This song came together very easily after a conversation and listening to the track in the studio.
And about the success of your singles “Truth Is” which peaked at #24 and “You Tried It” peaking at #19 on the Urban AC Billboard Charts?
It’s crazy because “Truth Is” was a song I freestyled when I was mad. I didn’t play it for anyone for months, and when I finally did everyone loved it and so we decided to release it as a single. “You Tried it” was a song I co-wrote for another artist (who didn’t end up using it) so I called to the producer about keeping for myself. It’s always mind blowing thinking about the story behind those 2 songs and how they ended up being my top performing songs.
How was the experience for opening for big name artists like Drake, Keyshia Cole, Monica, David Banner and TI to name a few?
They were all amazing experiences!
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
Creating music that makes people feel something…To know that songs often born from a painful place are loved, relatable and felt by the people listening to them is an amazing feeling.
What’s next for Coline Creuzot in the last months of 2021 and for 2022?
The EP and Touring!
Favorite cheat food?
Sour Candy (sour belts, sour patch kids etc)
How would you explain your fashion style?
Tomboy Chic
Favorite song? Why?
A song for You by Donny Hathaway. It’s such a beautiful and deep song. His voice was one of a kind.
