Hi Bianca and Chiara, please tell us a little about you?
Chiara: I am Chiara D’Ambrosio, and I have been in the entertainment industry for over 13 years now, my first role being young Summer Newman on the “Young and the Restless” and have loved this business ever since!
Bianca: I am Bianca D’Ambrosio and I am an actress, writer, and aspiring film director. I got my start as an actress at three years old playing Summer Newman on “The Young and The Restless”, and I have been in love with acting ever since.
We had the pleasure to do an interview a few years back. Tell us what’s new?
Chiara: We are in a few movies that will be released this year including “Slapface, “Bandit”, “yA”, “High Heat”, and have begun to write our projects! I can’t wait for people to see these amazing projects this year!
Bianca: Chiara and I just finished working on an action movie titled, “High Heat”, with Don Johnson and Olga Kurylenko that should be releasing this year. I had the opportunity to work on a film called, “Call Jane” with Elizabeth Banks and Sigourney Weaver that was just announced as an official selection at the Sundance Film Festival! I am so proud of this film, and I am ecstatic for the world to see it.
Tell us about your work on holiday movie “The Magic?”
Chiara: I play Misty Kane on “The Magic”, and she is a bubbly young girl who suddenly realizes the importance of helping her brother find love during the holiday season. I got to work with my sister both in front and behind the camera and got the chance to work with some of my “The Bay” family. This film is so special and gives viewers the Christmas sensation with a twist.
Bianca: I love holiday movies and I was so honored to be a part of one! “The Magic” is a film about David Kane, who does not believe in love, and, with the help of his guardian angels, starts to believe in the magic of Christmas and love again. I play Mary Lou Kane who is one of David’s guardian angels. Mary Lou is a caring sister and is devoted to helping her brother find true love.
What is the best and worst part of being an actress?
Chiara: The best part about being in this industry is the chance to play someone completely different from yourself. It is so fun to research the type of character I get to play and develop their mannerisms to make the role authentic. The worst part about being in this industry is the number of times you feel defeated and have an urge to give up. This is something I must face and overcome along my journey.
Bianca: The best aspect of being an actress Is playing characters that are the opposite of me, and the people I have met through my career. Although the entertainment industry can be ruthless at times, the genuine people that are in this industry make all the heartache worth it. However, the worst part of being an actress is rejection. Most of the time, actors go in for auditions but do not get the role. The rejection aspect of acting has taken time to get used to, but it still hurts.
How do guys prepare for a role?
Chiara: Research! I love to research the characteristics of the person I will play and read the script multiple times to understand why my character is who she is.
Bianca: When preparing for a role, I try to do as much research on the story as I can. I read scripts multiple times before filming and discover things I did not realize during my first read-through. Preparation is one of the most fun parts of being an actress.
What other projects you have been part of?
Chiara: I have been a part of a variety of different projects including Nickelodeons “See Dad Run” and “Nicky, Ricky, Dicky, and Dawn”, Emmy Award-winning “The Bay” which I recur on and won the Daytime Emmy for my role. “Diary of a Future President” on Disney+.
Bianca: In 2021, a comedy I was in, “Lady of the Manor” with Judy Greer and Justin Long premiered and I am reoccurring on the multiple Emmy Winning Drama, “The Bay”, which I was nominated for Daytime Emmy last year, where I play Frankie Sanders.
Bianca, tell us about working as Kate Mara’s daughter in Call Jane? Congrats!
Bianca: Thank you so much! Working on “Call Jane” was one of the most memorable experiences I have ever had as an actress. The cast and the crew were so passionate about the message of this film, and it inspired all of us actors. I play Kate Mara’s daughter named Erin, who is mourning the loss of her father and trying to be there for her best friend as she goes through a tough time. The experience of working on this important movie will stay with me forever.
And Chiara what was the feeling of winning the Outstanding Younger Performer In A Daytime Fiction Program for your role on Popstar TV’s The Bay? That’s amazing. Congrats!
Chiara: Thank you so much! I still can’t believe that happened. I was in utter shock! I thought I heard that voice in my head saying I won and didn’t believe it until I saw my sister’s face. She was so beyond happy for me, and the first person I wanted to see after I won was her.
And for you Chiara, tell us about playing the role of Mel Gibson’s daughter opposite Josh Duhamel in the action thriller Bandit?
Chiara: I play Jill, the daughter of Mel Gibson, who is a snarky teenager that wants to protect her family, especially her dad. Mel and Josh were incredible to work alongside, and I can’t wait for people to see this action-packed movie!
What kind of roles do you like or would like to play and why?
Chiara: I like to play characters that are most like me, and those that are opposite my personality. It is great to have a resume full of experiences that are varied from one another and to see how I can put my thoughts into every role that I play.
Bianca: I love to play roles that challenge me. I do not have any specific character I strive to play, but there is one type of role I would love to play: A young version of Villanelle from Killing Eve.
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
Chiara: The most rewarding part of my work is to watch my family’s reaction to a project that I had a part of, whether it was behind or in front of the camera. My family is my biggest support system, and they always cheer me on, so to see how they think of my projects is incredible.
Bianca: Watching the project I worked on with my family. Nothing is better than seeing people you love to watch a project you are proud of.
What’s your advice for the newer actresses?
Chiara: To never give up on your dreams, no matter how easy it may seem. I have felt this many times throughout my career, but I need to remind myself that I could not imagine myself in a different career path than entertainment. If you stay determined, your work will pay off.
Bianca: I know it sounds cliche, but do not give up! This industry is filled with rejection and the best way to stay motivated to keep going is to focus on what you want your life as an actress to be like, and do not focus on outside forces that might get in the way.
Which project is still on your bucket list?
Chiara: I would love to write and direct a movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe or play an assassin like Jodie Comer in “Killing Eve”! These two types of projects are at the top of my bucket list and hope one day these dreams come true.
Bianca: Any project with Jodie Comer. Jodie Comer inspires me as an actress and as a person. Working with her on a film is on my acting bucket list.
You are followed by so many people. How do you feel about that pressure of doing always the right thing, and encourage people to follow their dreams?
Chiara: I think that by having a great image that encourages teenagers to value their education and to continue following their dreams reduces the pressure of social media.
Bianca: I feel more pressure to make sure that the message I send to my supporters encourages them to follow their dreams rather than always doing the right thing on social media. I always do the right things in life and never feel ashamed to show my true self on social media.
What would say are the greatest lessons you learned so far in this business?
Chiara: There are many lessons I have learned in this industry, but I think the best one is to learn from your no’s, to finally get that YES.
Bianca: To never dwell on rejection and to believe in yourself and your abilities as an actress.
How would your best friend describe you?
Chiara: My best friend would describe me as loyal, funny, and caring!
Bianca: Loyal. I am there for my friends anytime they need me and they do the same for me.
If you are a book, what would be the title of the book and why?
Chiara: Oh, this is such a good question! I think the title of my book would be called, “Chiara D’Ambrosio On the Word Success”.
Bianca: Success is Not a One Way Street: A memoir by Bianca D’Ambrosio. If I were to write a book, I would want to write about what kept me motivated to continue pursuing a career in the entertainment industry despite constant rejection.
What book should every entrepreneur read?
Chiara: My mom enjoyed “Kris Jenner… and All Things Kardashian” by momager Kris Jenner!
Bianca: “Kris Jenner… and All Things Kardashian” by Kris Jenner.
What’s next for Bianca and Chiara D’Ambrosio in 2022?
Chiara: New films will be released this year, and I am so excited for people to see them! I also hope to write and produce my first feature film in 2022.
Bianca: In 2022, I will be focusing on directing and writing films with Chiara and continuing my acting career. I will also be preparing for my first semester as a college student.
What is your own definition of happiness?
Chiara: My definition of happiness is family and friends.
Bianca: I define happiness when being surrounded by people I love. Spending time with my family makes me the happiest.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
Chiara: I would meet Jodie Comer! She is my favorite actress and is an inspiration to me. I love her in “Killing Eve”, so if I ever got to meet her, I would ask her so many questions about her experience, and for advice.
Bianca: Jodie Comer! She is my favorite actress and to be able to work with her would be a dream!
Best advice ever given?
Chiara: Dreams do come true!
Bianca: By my dad. He always tells me that nothing in life that’s hard is easy.
Do you support any charity?
Chiara: We are huge animal lovers, and believe in the motto, “Adopt don’t shop”. We have been supporters of the ASPCA, Best Friend Animal Society, and Operation Blankets of Love. Also, we are supports of the Alzheimer’s Association, as our nana has been diagnosed with this disease. We want to share with our followers how important it is to give back!
Bianca: Yes, Chiara and I support the ASPCA, Operation Blankets of Love, and the Alzheimer’s Association. In addition, we are ambassadors for Boo 2 Bullying.
Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years from now?
Chiara: I see myself finishing college and being a full-time screenwriter and producer!
Bianca: In 5 years, I see myself working as a full-time film director, and working side by side Chiara writing scripts. Also, I see myself pursuing further education for my career.
Favorite song? Why?
Chiara: My favorite song is “California Girls” by Katy Perry because I grew up obsessed with this song and is a fun throwback!
Bianca: All Too Well by Taylor Swift. When I was younger, Taylor Swift was my idol and this song made me fall in love with her music.
What do you think of Social Media?
Chiara: I think social media if used appropriately, can be a great way to connect with family and friends from around the world, and a way to meet new people!
Bianca: I believe that social media can be both positive and negative. Social media is an amazing way to connect with individuals across the world, but it can also be a way to spread unneeded negativity. I try to take breaks from time to time to make sure I do not get consumed with reading comments on my posts. Social media has both had a negative and positive effect on my life, and I focus on the positives rather than the negatives.
