Hi Miesa, please tell us a little about you?
That’s such a loaded question lol. I guess I’m just a girl who loves to sing. I’m a Jersey girl living in Miami who is of Filipino and Haitian descent. Everything else I’m saving for my autobiography haha.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Loyal, Humble, Genuine
We’re sure you have been asked this million times but how did you get in the industry?
Honestly this question never gets old because it’s all about family. I grew up in a musical household, so music always reminds me of home. I feel my most authentic self when I’m singing, so something that feels that right must be my calling.
Describe your sound in 3 words?
Intimate, Harmonic, Melodic
Who influenced you and why did you choose to make music?
My parents are my biggest musical influence, but Whitney, Mariah, and The Beatles are right behind them, along with so many other amazingly talented artists.
Do you ever get nervous?
I think every musician still gets nervous. But my faith and family keeps me grounded and help me to always push through.
Tell us about your new single “Blind?”
It really is just a love story, but unfortunately not every love story ends in happily ever after. This one just illustrates the moment in a relationship where you realize you have been ignoring all the signs of this going nowhere and now you can finally admit it. You’ve been blind to all that’s been going on.
What’s the story behind the song?
It’s just one of those stories that I felt like needed to be told musically. I’m sure we all have a friend or seen the same scenario on a TV show or movie, I just wanted to tell it in music.
How was working with producer Viirgos (Arianna Grande, Nicki Minaj)?
Honestly they’re awesome to work with. Because of Covid we haven’t had a chance to actually be in the same room, but they are so talented that it never felt like it.
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
Performing live is always the best because you get to really engage with your fans and make a more authentic connection with the song. Also, just being an inspiration to other little girls to follow their dreams no matter what.
What’s next for Miesa in 2022?
More music and getting some somewhat live shows going. It’s such a crazy time in the world and we’re all just doing the best we can to connect again.
What is your favorite healthy food?
Smoothies for sure. You can get so creative with them, it’s kind of my thing.
And your favorite cheat food?
Ooooh definitely french fries on a salad.
How would you explain your fashion style?
I’m a blank canvas. For the most part I like to try everything, within reason. I won’t do too short and I’m not interested in leaving anything to the imagination, but fashion is supposed to be fun and an art form, so like my music I want to be creative and classy. Timeless is my sweet spot.
What is your own definition of happiness?
Living without regrets, being kind simply because, loving my music as a fan would and having my friends and family around me happy and healthy.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
I think everything happens the way it was meant to, so everyone that I’ve met so far I was destined to make that connection and anyone I haven’t there was reason for that too.
Best advice ever given?
Be yourself.
Do you support any charity?
There are so many amazing charities but I’m partial to those helping Haiti and also all the fur babies.
Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years from now?
Having an even bigger platform to share my music, but still loving making music as much as I do now with my same team.
Favorite song? Why?
There’s way too many, but this year I found myself listening to ‘Heartbreak Anniversary’ maybe more than I should have. Oh and of course “Antidote” which was my first single, it will always hold a special place.
