Check out our interview with Miami based pop singer-songwriter Rudy Touzet who recently released his singles “Goodnight Moon” & “Treason” ahead of the release of his debut EP later this year. These singles were released following exclusive premieres with Wonderland Magazine /Atwood Magazine and EQ Music / Queerty. The release of these two singles follow the success of Rudy’s 2021 single releases “Take It As A Win,” “I Don’t Know,” “Runaway,”and “Say Less,” which have received a great deal of buzz for this new artist. Each of those songs reflected a different chapter in Rudy’s life, from love to heartache, endings, and new beginnings. These premieres kick off a string of releases that will not only display Rudy’s singing and song writing ability, but also his versatility.

Hi Rudy, please tell us a little about you?
I’m a singer and songwriter from Miami, Florida! I just graduated college and now I’m living in LA, making music full time.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Loyal, creative, and genuine
How did you get started in the business?
I have been writing songs ever since I was a little kid. I had done musical theater my whole life, but I knew deep down that I wanted to focus on music in the future. It wasn’t until 2 or 3 years ago when my old roommate had pushed me to get into the studio and record one of my songs. It was such a natural feeling to me that I knew I had to keep this going.
How has this changed your life?
This has been such a wild 2 years. Writing songs has been so therapeutic to me and the songs we’ve created have inspired me to expand myself and not just make something that is for me. I’m so grateful for the opportunities I have been given to make music and share them with the world.
We’re sure you have been asked this million times but how did you get in the industry?
After releasing my first 2 singles, my family friend, Charlie Walk, introduced me to Music Mastery studios where I was introduced to so creatives and was able to find my people and put together a team that I have worked with ever since.
Describe your sound in 3 words?
Sexy, Energetic, and Authentic
Who influenced you and why did you choose to make music?
I have so many influences in my life, but the influences who really got me to make music were the ones who made me vulnerable and gave me a reason to use my voice.
Do you play any instrument?
I am trying to learn piano again! I stopped playing when I was around 6, but I have been taking lessons for the past 6 months!
Do you ever get nervous?
I used to be a nervous wreck, but I think being on stage has really calmed my nerves. But like everyone else, I do still get nervous from time to time.
Tell us your new singles “Goodnight Moon” and “Treason”?”
I released Treason back in 2021 but it gained traction in the beginning of 2022. While it was gaining attention I started teasing Goodnight Moon on TikTok and received such a great reaction so I released in the middle of March alongside a music video!
What’s the story behind the songs?
Goodnight Moon was a song I wrote while we were all in lockdown and I wanted a song that gave me that same feeling of going out. A feeling of escaping reality just for a night and letting loose, screaming songs with your friends and dancing the night away.
Treason was about a dramatic break up I had last year and so I wanted a song to portray how extra things ended, and so we came up with the line “you committed treason”.
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
Having people listening and understanding my lyrics, and hearing them scream the words back at me when I’m on stage.

What would say are the greatest lessons you learned so far?
Take risks!!!! You can’t tell what the outcome is going to be if you don’t try it!
What advice would you give to your younger self and why?
Be yourself, whoever you’re trying to be there are a million other people trying to be that same person. Focus on yourself and your work, everything will be okay!
How would your best friend describe you?
An odd ball.
If you are a book, what would be the title of the book and why?
I think if I was a book I would want it to be titled Prio Touzet. That is my full last name and I would want to talk about my families’ history as well as my story.
What’s next for Rudy Touzet in 2022?
I am finishing up the last couple of songs for an EP which is coming soon!
What is your favorite healthy food?
I love a good green juice! I drink one every morning to start my day.
And your favorite cheat food?
Chicken fingers ALL THE WAY!!!
How would you explain your fashion style?
Classy but comfortable
What is your own definition of happiness?
Being around the people you love and doing the things that make you feel fulfilled.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
I would’ve loved to have met Betty White and hear all of her stories! She was truly and icon and brought happiness to so many people.
What would be the dream holiday, and who would you go with?
The Maldives with all of my friends!
Best advice ever given?
Love is an action not a word. Words are meaningless when actions are involved.
Do you support any charity?
I don’t have a specific charity I support, but I try to find new organizations and charities that help others. I try to help our world as much as I can whether that’s volunteering or donating, it’s the least I can do!
Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years from now?
I hope to have an album out and the chance to go on tour and meet people from all over the world!
Favorite song? Why?
My First My Last My Everything by Barry White. This song is my parent’s song and every time it plays, no matter where they are, they get up and dance together. I’ve grown up listening to the song and it never gets old and makes me feel loved and like I am at home.
What do you think of Social Media?
I have a love/hate relationship with social media. It’s amazing when it comes to people finding me and my music, but there are some nasty people who feel the need to make a comment about every little thing and judge everything I do.
