Check out our interview with Manchester’s pop/dance duo Saintz who just released their debut album “Goosebumps”. This album release follows the buzz that Saintz has been creating over the last year with single releases like debut single “You’ll Always Find A Way” remixed by Kelvin Wood, that premiered with EQ Music and reached #4 in the UK Dance Chart amassing over 185,000+ streams, with the music video gaining 47,000+ views. Their second single “Beautiful World” has reached over 170,000+ streams on Spotify and 82,000+ views for the music video!
Saintz followed that success with the release of singles “Undertow” and “Goosebumps” both which have racked up 92,000+ views and 108,000+ views on YouTube respectively continuing the duo’s growth. For the last year throughout the quarantine the duo of Danny Stephenson and Destiny Owen aka Saintz have been working quietly putting together new music. The first taste fans got from Saintz was a 2020 feature on Light Label mates LZ7’s high energy hit single “Getting Wild” that premiered with Ground Sounds. Since then, Saintz has been creating a lot of buzz with singles “You’ll Always Find A Way,” “Beautiful World,” “Undertow,” and title track “Goosebumps” which are all featured on their debut album released last week.

Hi Saintz, please tell us a little about you?
Hey, we are a pop/dance duo band from Manchester!
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Energetic, positive, passionate
We’re sure you have been asked this million times but how did you get in the industry?
We were both individually approached and asked to join the Light music label with the aim of setting up a brand new band. As a team we created Saintz!
How has this changed your life?
Well, we’ve always had a love for music whether that be singing, playing an instrument or dancing. However, now having the privilege of creating music full time has changed our lives for sure! We get to do what we love everyday, which we’re so grateful for. Plus working for such a unique label that wants to bring a positive impact on this generation, changed the game for us.
Describe your sound in 3 words?
Pop, fun and meaningful
Who influenced you and why did you choose to make music?
As we’re a duo, we definitely have different artists/people that influence us personally. We actually love this as it brings a mixture of elements to the band as a whole. As Saintz, we’d say artists like The Chainsmokers, Sigala, Justin Bieber have influenced our sound and have encouraged us with their positive expression of lyrics. We chose to do music because we realise it’s a powerful universal language, connecting all people and bringing them together! Our main aim with our music is to positively impact this generation and encourage our listeners to confidently live a life of purpose. Knowing their true value and that this world is a better place with them in it!
Do you play any instrument?
We play keys and guitar.
Do you ever get nervous?
Oh yeah, of course! Haha. Especially being a newly put together band. Immediately we have to win over the crowd, but the adrenaline and excitement that comes with that drives us to perform to our best! We also think that being nervous is a good sign, as we really care about how we deliver our music and the messages behind them.
Tell us about your debut album “Goosebumps” and your debut single “You’ll Always Find A Way?”
Goosebumps as you said is our debut album! Woo! We have loved every part of creating this, it’s been such a cool journey. The album as a whole has been gradually in the making since we first launched in September 2020, working closely with our producer Jimmy James. You’ll Always Find A Way was our first ever Saintz track, so it will always hold a special place in our hearts. We wrote it together as a team in our office and then recorded it at a studio soon after.
What’s the story behind the song?
The meaning behind the lyrics are simple, you WILL find a way! No matter what you’re facing, we believe you’ll find a way through it. As Saintz, we also like to share some of our faith, so in this song for us on a personal level we know that God’s got us.
And the success of your singles “Undertow,” and “Beautiful World?”
We love these two singles and to see how much everyone loved them too was amazing! Recording the music videos for both of these tracks was a highlight. Beautiful World is our most popular on Spotify, so thank you so much to everyone who has been streaming it!
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
The most rewarding part has to be the conversations we have with our listeners and the messages we get saying how much of an impact our music has had on their lives.
Alongside our music, we have a mental health resource called IMPOSSIBLE, that we launched alongside Undertow. So being able to journey with those who are struggling and bring some form of light into someone’s darkness means a whole lot to us!

What would say are the greatest lessons you learned so far?
The greatest lesson learned so far has to be… have fun! How can we expect our audience to have a great time at our gigs if we aren’t having the time of our lives! It’s all about giving as much energy as possible. Give out energy and get it back!
What advice would you give to your younger self and why?
Be YOU. Don’t try to copy another artist. There’s never been another you, there never will be another you, and there’s not another one of you here right now. That makes you totally unique, so walk confident in that. Be authentic.
How would your best friend describe you?
Happy and always up for a laugh!
If you are a book, what would be the title of the book and why?
Dreamers’ because we are doing what we always dreamed of doing and loving every minute.

McDonalds. Hands down, classic go to.
How would you explain your fashion style?
Chic mixed with urban influence.
What is your own definition of happiness?
Doing what you love everyday.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
Kanye West so we could talk about music, fashion and art. I think that would be inspirational.
What would be the dream holiday, and who would you go with?
Destiny – I love the Caribbean, Dominican Republic & I’d go with my best girl friends or my family! Danny – It’s got to be Maldives with my wife and little girl.
Best advice ever given?
Dream big!
Do you support any charity?
We have worked alongside many charities over the years but we also give to some amazing charities, one of which is Compassion that helps sponsor children living in poverty.
Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years from now?
Hopefully headlining festivals and more touring!

A song on our album called ‘when im with you’ because it makes us want to dance!

As a band its an amazing tool for us to connect with our audience. We love to bring positivity to what can sometimes be a negative place for people.
