Hi Izza, please tell us a little about you?
Hi! My name is Izza and I’m a pop singer, songwriter, and producer from Los Angeles. When I’m not making music, I love learning more about fashion brands and trends, as well as playing tennis and Fortnite.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Passionate, Loyal, Dedicated
We’re sure you have been asked this million times but how did you get in the industry?
I fell in love with songwriting at an early age and immediately knew I wanted to be an artist. The ability to form my thoughts and feelings into songs and perform them is so liberating. I feel the most authentic when I’m writing and performing.
How has this changed your life?
I started songwriting because I had no one to talk to about my struggles. Being able to write about my experiences in songs has helped me overcome difficult periods in my life and has encouraged me to follow my dreams. When I’m writing a song or performing on stage, I feel the happiest. If there’s one thing in life I want is to be happy and for me, that’s achieved when making music.
Describe your sound in 3 words?
Energetic, Empowering, Unapologetic
Who influenced you and why did you choose to make music?
Growing up with pop icons like Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and Kesha made me want to be in music because they were all unapologetically themselves and that’s something I wanted to achieve. Seeing them create art inspired me to find my voice.
Do you play any instrument?
I play the piano! I use to play guitar too, but I haven’t played in a while. I would love to pick it up again and also learn bass.
Do you ever get nervous?
Of course! I get nervous before performing, but once I start singing, all the nerves go away and I am incredibly happy.
Tell us about your new single “”Nintendo Bitch?”
I wanted to write a song about gaming because I love playing Fortnite, but I also wanted to incorporate the idea of self-love which is a theme in my music.
What’s the story behind the song?
For a long time, it was hard for me to recognize my accomplishments because I never felt like I was good enough. I finally felt like I won in life when I started to love myself. I hope people listen to “Nintendo Bitch” and can realize their value and how special they are.
And about your surprise EP called ‘I Say This With Love?’
I’m so excited to be releasing my debut EP “I Say This With Love” on July 8th! Since I was a kid, it has been my dream to release a body of work. Continuing to add songs to my collection of music is so fulfilling and it’s the best feeling to perform them.
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
I think seeing people on social media excited about my songs and singing them is rewarding to me. I can’t believe people are singing the lyrics I wrote. It makes me so happy to see people enjoying my music because all I want to do is bring joy to people like music has brought joy to me.
How was the experience of playing at 320 Festival alongside artists like Chris Martin of Coldplay? That’s amazing! Big Congrats 🙂
Thank you! Mental health is very important to me, so to be involved with an event like the 320 Festival was so special because I was able to incorporate two of my passions: music and advocating for mental health.
What book should every entrepreneur read?
Crucial Conversations!
What would you say are the greatest lessons you learned so far?
Something I’ve learned in the past year is that people are always going to tear you down and discourage you from following your dreams. However, you should never listen to people who are trying to compromise your happiness. At the end of the day, as long as you are happy, that’s all that matters. Don’t live life for others, live life for yourself!
What advice would you give to your younger self and why?
My advice would be not to worry so much. I think I had a lot of unnecessary anxiety, but I feel like as you get older and are more experienced with certain situations you become more relaxed. Life is too short to worry about stupid things or people.
How would your best friend describe you?
My best friends would describe me as loyal. I will always be there for my friends no matter what.
If you are a book, what would be the title of the book and why?
The title would be “People Pleaser Turned Bad Bitch Pop Singer.” For pretty much my whole life, I would put others before me to the point where I was harming my own physical and mental health. When I started to put myself first, I started writing the best music of my life and came into my own as an artist.
What’s next for Izza in 2022?
More music releases! My debut EP “I Say This With Love” comes out July 8th! I’ve been filming lots of videos for my songs that I can’t wait to share as well.
What is your favorite healthy food?
I love salmon and sweet potatoes.
And your favorite cheat food?
Steak nachos!
How would you explain your fashion style?
My style is always changing, but I always gravitate toward loud pieces. I don’t like to be subtle with my outfits. To me, fashion is a creative way for me to express myself and I love standing out and putting on pieces that make me feel confident.
What is your own definition of happiness?
To me, happiness is doing what you love and for me that’s music. There’s nothing that makes me happier than writing songs and performing. I want to inspire people to follow their dreams like I have no matter who tries to discourage you.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
I would love to meet Stevie Nicks because she is an absolute legend and an incredible artist that I look up to.
What would be the dream holiday, and who would you go with?
I would love to go to a beach somewhere, like in Fiji or the South of France, to relax with my family.
Best advice ever given?
My Dad would always tell me “everything will be okay.” This is simple advice, but often forgotten when you’re in the heat of the moment. Usually, things always work out in the end no matter how terrible it seems when you’re in the thick of it.
Do you support any charity?
Advocating for mental health is very important to me and I love the Nonprofit called Hope For The Day. They focus on mental health education and suicide prevention. They understand how to get people talking about mental health and its importance.
Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years from now?
I hope to be touring and releasing albums! All I want to do is perform on stages across the world and continue to make songs that uplift people and make them feel less alone.
Favorite song? Why?
My favorite song is “Hotel California” because the lyrics and melody are timeless. It also reminds me of growing up in Los Angeles.
What do you think of Social Media?
I love social media because it gives me the platform to share my music and connect with fans.
Where we can follow you?
You can follow me @izzaroze on all platforms! I’m always posting new songs, behind-the-scenes videos, and going live!
