Hi Emmanuelle, please tell us a little about you?
I was born and raised in Vancouver BC, Canada. My mother is of French Algerian descent, and my father is French Italian. I am first generation Canadian.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Generous, kind, loyal
How did you get started into acting?
I was cast in a school play when I was 7 years old. I was the understudy for a small role. One day the girl got sick, and it was my time to shine… and that is where it all began! Throughout high school, I modeled in Japan until I decided to stay put and carve out a career in film and television.
How has this changed your life?
I’m very lucky in the sense that I was able to pursue and have success with something I am so passionate about.
What is the best and worst part of being an actress?
For me, the best part is being able to express myself through my work. It’s therapeutic in a lot of ways, and also extremely rewarding when you fall into complete alignment with your character. It feels effortless… however, getting to that place can sometimes be challenging.
The worst part is challenging the way the industry sees you because they’ve only seen part of what you are capable of based on the opportunities that have been presented to you. Success in this business is preparation meets opportunity… with a whole lot of luck sprinkled in there!
How do you prepare for a role?
That varies from project to project. But the one constant is I always go over the material with a coach or a fellow actor. I think it is so valuable to get an outside perspective. They see things that you might not see… and it can really help shape your performance in a positive way.
Tell us about your work in Hallmark Channel’s movie “Big Sky River?”
Well, without giving much away… I get to combine my 2 favorite things. Acting, with my love for horses! For more, tune in on August 7th at 9 pm EST on Hallmark, and on Aug 12th on W Network in Canada.
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
The best part of my job is all the wonderful people I get to meet and the places I get to travel to. I feel very fortunate that I am part of an industry that embraces all kinds of colorful, creative personalities… and celebrates them.
What’s your advice for the newer actors?
Work hard. Don’t give up.
Practice self-care. Mind/Body.
Be on time. Be prepared. Be kind. Stay grateful.
Treat everyone with respect.
What would say are the greatest lessons you learned so far in this business?
Through life’s many challenges and career ups and downs, people show you their true colors. I’ve learned to pay attention to that, closely.
How would your best friend describe you?
Probably something along the lines of …. fun, silly, playful.
What advice would you give to your younger self and why?
Don’t sell the loft in Yaletown. LOL. Just Kidding!
Honestly, as much as I’d like to change or not have had certain unpleasant experiences… they have shaped who I am today, and I’m proud of that.
What book should every entrepreneur read?
Psycho-Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz
What’s next for Emmanuelle Vaugier in 2022?
I’m looking forward to enjoying the beautiful summer weather and competing with my horse, Bunny at the summer shows.
What is your favorite healthy food?
Fresh watermelon.
And your favorite cheat food?
Cake!
What is your own definition of happiness?
Spending quality time with my animals, and being out in nature. Those things bring me joy.
Best advice ever given?
“You are the magic”
Do you support any charity?
I have my own 501c3, The Fluffball Foundation. We raise money and awareness both online and through our Fluffball event for various animal welfare organizations across the United States. You can find out more about what we do as well as upcoming events at thefluffball.com.
What do you think of Social Media?
