How did you get started in Modeling?
Since I was a kid I felt great interest for acting, posing and played walking in a runway. I did my first photo book when I was 10, but I decided to focused on my studies and finish a professional career. When I graduated as an interior designer from college, I knew it was the right moment for me to start with my other passion, modeling. So I did my research and found William Muñoz as a model manager in Colombia and I liked the type of models he worked with, and the professional projection he offered, so I contacted him, he saw potential in me and in the next couple of days we did a professional photo book and by the next week we got many brands to work with, it happened all so fast that I was amazed and grateful.
Anything funny that happened during a casting?
I was doing a very important casting at the offices of a Colombian catalogue brand and I had to try the fit of their underwear. I was a bit nervous and I don’t know why I left my clothes in another room on the other side from where I was doing the photoshoot, when we finished I realized I had to go back to get dressed, it happened that I had to run through the hallway where all the glass meeting rooms were, all of them full of people working. Everybody stared at me making a face like “is she lost?” LOL
What does fashion mean to you?
Fashion to me means diversity. It gives me the opportunity to show people different traits of my personality. It’s an area where I can explore my creativity and depending on the occasion I can display something about me. It’s a constant communication tool without even saying a word.
Who is your biggest beauty inspiration?
Bella Hadid. Her beauty is out of this world, so natural and glamorous. Always looking so effortless and reflecting a pure and kind heart.
What are your goals as a model?
I see myself as an international model. I dream about being an ambassador of Adidas Originals and at the same time design their store window displays. I’d also love to be the image of luxury brands such as Cartier and Christian Dior beauty.
Who are some of your favorite models and designers, and why?
Kendall Jenner and Elsa Hosk because of their natural beauty, versatility and professionalism. And about designers, I love Jacquemus because of his greater sense of human connection and well-defined aesthetic, timeless pieces, accessible and down-to-heart brand. I also admire Elsa Schiaparelli bold style and timeless allure redefining art and fashion.
How do you stay fit?
Staying active, exercising regularly, I enjoy doing boxing training, but most important is a mindful eating, knowing what my body needs and processes well. I have a healthy life style so it comes naturally to me. Of course everything is about a balance, so once in a while I eat something not so healthy, and it’s ok.
How do you feel about the controversy of the size 0 in the industry?
Size 0 most of the time is not a healthy beauty reference. It doesn’t represent the average, everyday women and puts pressure on how girls should look and creates unhealthy habits and lowers self-confidence. But I think the beauty industry is changing for good, they have realized it is more important to show natural beauty, some imperfection and curved silhouettes.
What is fun and rewarding about modeling?
I love meeting many interesting and talented people, from the photographer, makeup artist, styling people, designers to fellow models.
The best about modeling is you have flexibility on your time, the jobs you want to accept, the opportunity to travel for photoshoots, get to know new places. When you live the fashion Industry from backstage you get to know designers, new brands and most important is that modeling opens many doors for you, connections that will turn into great networking opportunities. In my case as an interior designer.
And what do you dislike?
It may seem that modeling is an easy job, but sometimes when it’s a long working day, you get exhausted and there still lots of clothes waiting for you. But at the end of the day, the photos look great, you feel like you killed it and it’s all worthy, then you deserve a dessert or a nice meal L.O.L
What other modeling projects have you done?
I’ve had the opportunity to work for important catalogue/commercial brands, such as Tania, Colors, Wanitta, stop jeans, Livva Perú, Surtitodo, Flex sports…
What’s your advice for the newer models?
Be patient with your career, don’t compare yourself with others, enjoy your own journey. Work hard for you, every step you take is giving you experience and is going to lead you to bigger opportunities. Feel confident about you, believe you are living your dream, that will make you shine when being photoshooted. Always be nice with everybody, even with the girl that offers you coffee during a photoshoot, it will keep doors open for you. Be open to learn and to receive suggestions. And finally, don’t take anything granted, feel always grateful for every opportunity that life gives you.
What are guilty pleasures food wise?
Once in a while I eat a hamburger with French fries and dark chocolate brownie. That’s heaven to me. It’s all about balance.
Name one beauty product you can’t live without?
I can’t live without lip gloss, lately I’m obsessed with the hyaluronic lifter gloss by Maybelline.
How often do you go to the gym?
I exercise with functional or boxing training 3-4 days a week.
