Hi Amelia, please tell us a little about you.
I am a seventeen-year-old actress and singer!
Describe yourself in 3 words.
Loving, Strong-Willed, Outgoing
How did you get started in acting?
Growing up, I was always singing and dancing around my kitchen and putting on performances for my parents. They could tell it was something I was really interested in, so when I turned 5 they put me in a theater camp and I immediately fell in love with it.
How has this changed your life?
My family has had to make many sacrifices in order to let me pursue my dreams, and those aren’t always easy. But because of their continuous love and support, my life has changed forever. I accomplished my Disney Channel dream, I’m making music, and I have been able to meet so many amazing fans!
What is the best and worst part of being an actress?
Growing up in this industry at such a young age has been extremely challenging, but so rewarding. The best parts are booking roles you love and meeting new people, but the worst part is definitely rejection.
How do you prepare for a role?
Research the people you are working with so you can be familiar with them! Also, be confident! Being confident in your new role will make you shine!
Tell us about your work in the popular hit Disney Channel series “Sydney to the Max?”
I played Sophia in Disney Channels Sydney to the Max. She is a goofy, kind, and fun girl who cares so much about her friends. That show changed my life, I learned so much about the industry and I met people I will never forget.
What other projects you have been part of?
I’ve done many commercials and print ad work in the Midwest. I also performed in Chicago this past summer with the Boys of a Summer tour. I also started my own talk show during the pandemic on Instagram live called, “Wray of Sunshine.” It was a show hosted by me where I talked about strictly positive news only! I wanted my followers to hear some sort of positivity in the midst of all the chaos surrounding covid on social media.
What kind of roles do you like or would like to play and why?
I like playing comedy roles but I would really like to play in a sci-fi action film at some point in my life.
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
Meeting my fans is by far the most rewarding thing. When kids look up to me and my work, that means more than anything to me. I hope to act like their big sister!
What’s your advice for the newer actors?
This industry is full of rejection and negativity. You must stay true to yourself and follow your dreams no matter what! You can do anything you put your mind to when you have a positive attitude and mindset.
What would say are the greatest lessons you learned so far in this business?
Don’t trust everyone, keep your circle small and don’t surround yourself with people who don’t support you and believe in you. And also, don’t take anything for granted. Enjoy every step of the ride.
Now let’s talk about music. Who influenced you and why did you choose to make music?
Music truly fuels the soul, it brings people together and I hope my music can do that. But I chose to make music because I want people to relate to it and feel like their not alone. I want my music to inspire people! I have so many inspirations including Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Clairo, Rihanna, and Lexi Jayde.
Describe your sound in 3 words?
Sweet and strong, emotional and authentic.
Tell us about your new single “Moved On?”
Moved on is an uptempo indie pop hit that will have you belting the lyrics. It’s relatable to anyone that’s ever experienced heartbreak before.
What’s the story behind the song?
Moved on is about a significant other changing and moving on too fast from your past relationship with them.
How would your best friend describe you?
My best friend would describe me as funny, understanding, caring, responsible and hard-working.
If you are a book, what would be the title of the book and why?
I would call the book “Living Proof” because I am living proof that dedication, hard work, and self-love help you achieve your dreams.
What advice would you give to your younger self and why?
Stop caring about what other people think! You only live once and if you’re happy, that’s all that matters.
What’s next for Amelia Wray in the last months of 2022 and for 2023?
You can look forward to a lot of new indie pop music! “Moved On” was only the beginning.
What is your favorite healthy food?
Salad
And your favorite cheat food?
Burgers!
What is your own definition of happiness?
Happiness is what you feel when you’re loved by others and yourself, when you’re confident and safe and when you’re doing things for yourself that make you feel good.
Best advice ever given?
Everything happens for a reason, if it’s meant to happen, it will.
Favorite song? Why?
Pluto Projector by Rex Orange County. It’s a relatable soulful song that you never get tired of.
What do you think of Social Media?
Social Media has brought so much good into my life, but also some bad. I have been able to interact with supporters from all over the world, but I’ve also fallen into the trap of comparing myself to others on social media. But, I think it can be an amazing platform when used correctly so finding the balance between enough time and too much time on it is a must!
