Hi Aaliyah, please tell us a little about you?
I love to make art and I am in my school’s arts and media program. I love food and would definitely call myself a foodie. Also, recently I’ve become a YouTube addict and have subscribed to a plethora of new channels.
Describe yourself in 3 words
I would describe myself as outgoing, funny and determined.
How did you get started into acting?
My mom is an actor as well and got me started in the industry when I was only 4 months old. But I really felt a passion for it when I was four years old, that’s when I knew that this was for me.
How has this changed your life?
Getting into acting has forever changed my life in a way that has taught me very important skills from a young age like memorization skills, time management and responsibility. It has also allowed me to have the pleasure of meeting some truly amazing people in this industry in front and behind the camera.
What is the best and most challenging part about being an actress?
One of the best and most challenging parts of acting are the characters that you play. It’s so much fun to be able to play different characters with unique personalities and traits but it can be hard to dig deep into yourself and find that person within you to accurately portray them.
How do you prepare for a role?
When I prepare for roles, I try to create a story off of the character description, whether it be true or false. It gives me a base to build the characters deep feelings and emotions which in turn lets me know how they would react in the scene I’m given.
Tell us about your work on Apple TV+’s new futuristic anthology series Circuit Breakers?
Circuit Breakers deals with mature themes where the plot is moved forward through child and teen actors. The show tackles children’s issues through a sci-fi lens. My character, Charley, thirsts for knowledge and is always looking for an adventure. She is smart, sensible, very grounded and very supportive.
What kind of roles do you like or would like to play and why?
I’ve always really liked to play mean girls, it’s just so fun to be sassy all the time.
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
The most rewarding part is when you finally see the finished product of a show you’ve been working on. It’s so gratifying to see it all come together.
What’s your advice for up and coming actors?
My advice would be to study and learn from other people’s work. It doesn’t matter how talented or accomplished you are, there is always something that can be learned and there is always room for improvement.
What would you say are the greatest lessons you learned so far in this business?
The greatest lesson I’ve learned in the industry is to not take things to heart. Sometimes you go for auditions and know you did a great job but still, you don’t get the part. It’s important to realize that it had nothing to do with you and everything to do with them and move on to the next audition.
How would your best friends describe you?
They would probably describe me as funny, annoying and bubbly.
What advice would you give to your younger self and why?
I would tell myself not to give up no matter what anyone says. When I was younger a lot of people told me I should quit, I realized that it was because they were jealous. I almost gave up because of that but thankfully, through the support of my family, my parents talked some sense into me and it gave me the clarity I needed.
What’s next for Aaliyah Cinello in the last months of 2022 and for 2023?
On November 11, Apple TV’s Circuit Breakers is airing. I also have some exciting new projects coming out in 2023, which you’ll have to stay tuned for!
What is your favorite healthy food?
My favorite healthy food is definitely sushi. We have a really good spot not too far from my house. This place has the BEST Sushi.
And your favorite cheat food?
My favorite cheat food would be burgers for sure! Especially gourmet burgers.
What is your own definition of happiness?
My definition of happiness would be to live peacefully, with no regrets, surrounded by friends and family.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
If I could meet anyone, I would want to meet the famous explorer Christopher Columbus, I feel like he would have some great stories to tell.
Best advice ever given?
The best advice that was ever given to me was when my parents told me to work towards whatever I want in life and not to let anyone get in the way of what I want.
Where do you see yourself and your career five years from now?
I see myself starring in multiple movies and TV shows of various genres.
Favorite song? Why?
I don’t have a favorite song but recently I have been listening to Patrick Watson.
What do you think of Social Media?
I think social media is a great platform for people to socialize on as well as promote and market yourself or your business.
