Check out our interview with Los Angeles based pop hip-hop artist Victory Brooks who just released her new single “Potions” today! (February 14th)
‘Potions’ is produced by Pettros, previously known for working with multi-platinum artists such as blackbear, mansionz and Lost Kings. Playful and fresh, the track is full of catchy vocal melodies and impressive flows. Smooth hook seamlessly moves into vibrant ad-lib sprinkled verses against a hard-hitting hip-hop beat. ‘Potions’ is a perfect track for anyone who likes music like Ashnikko, Doja Cat or Coi Leray.

Hi Victory, please tell us a little about you?
Victory Brooks here, let’s party! I make music that makes you feel like the main character. I also make silly videos on the internet.
We’re sure you have been asked this million times but how did you get in the industry?
I wanted to be an artist ever since I was little. I believe I attracted that into my life. Sometimes what you’re looking for is looking for you as well. I got into a music college as a guitar player and was quickly reborn as a pop hip-hop artist. Working with different producers helped me shape my sound and style.
How has this changed your life?
Music changed my life in every possible way and opened so many doors for me.
What I enjoy the most is being able to connect with fans all over the world. Music is global and it’s a universal language. Also, I’ve met so many amazing creatives along the way. I made life-long friends with people who helped create my music videos and songs.
Describe your sound in 3 words?
Playful, fearless, fun
Who influenced you and why did you choose to make music?
Music always seemed larger than life to me. When I was little I always thought artists on stage were super heroes or almost aliens. Something about music and being an artist seemed out of this world to me.
Earlier in my life I found huge inspiration in artists like Prince, Madonna and David Bowie. My current influences come from hip-hop and pop music. J. Cole, Pharrell, Frank Ocean, Nicki Minaj and so many more.
Do you play any instrument?
I play on people’s nerves on the internet, haha. J/k, guitar and a little piano
Tell us about your new single “Potions?”
“Potions” is one of my favorites for sure! It was especially fun, because I got to do both melodic singing and rapping! “Potions” sounds playful and fresh, which is exactly what I was going for with this record.
How was working with producer Pettros on this single?
Awesome! Pettros gets what sound I’m going for. He’s very talented and very professional. If you were in the studio you would be amazed by how fast he comes up with melodies and beats. Check out his own music too!
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
Watching an idea in my head turn into a real song! Gives me chills every time.
What book should every entrepreneur read?
I feel like every entrepreneur should get out there and take a step towards their vision today and every day. Books can help but nothing beats action.
What would say are the greatest lessons you learned so far?
- Good things take time
- Have a plan for your life, otherwise life always has its own plans for you
- Always test your hair dye first, sent me to ER once
What advice would you give to your younger self and why?
- Something you’re so worried about right now won’t matter in a year.
- Enjoy the moment right now, don’t neglect being present for something you’re trying so hard to reach in the future.
- Ignore what anyone has to say, block it out.
What’s next for Victory Brooks in 2023?
2023 is going to be my biggest year yet. The best music I’ve ever written and the most amazing team around me.
What is your favorite healthy food?
Oven-roasted salmon and rice.
And your favorite cheat food?
Donuts. Pink glaze, of course.
What is your own definition of happiness?
Happiness is when success meets peace.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
Juice WRLD. One of my all time favorite artists. He had so much more left to say, I can only imagine how many more amazing songs he would have created.
Best advice ever given?
“Go for it”
Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years from now?
Taking over the world.
What do you think of Social Media?
Social media can make or break you. You have to have tough skin and not compare yourself to other people no matter what.
On the bright side, it really connects people all over the world. I am grateful for my platforms and the amazing fan base that I have!
