Hi Grace, please tell us a little about you?
I’m an actress, entrepreneur, and writer! I have been acting since I was nine years old but made the move to Los Angeles three years ago. This past August I co-founded a women’s empowerment loungewear company, Badkiss! I also write poetry in my free time and just received two publishing deals on my books.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Passionate, goofy, Soulful.
How did you get started into acting?
I grew up on a farm and did not have much to do so when I was nine I started making short films with my cousin and siblings. When I was twelve I started emailing agencies with my dad’s email and landed an agent. I’ve always been utterly obsessed with acting. No one ever showed me how to get into it. I spent all of my summers researching information on acting coaches, resumes, headshot photographers, etc. This helped me become business savvy in the industry from a young age.
How has this changed your life?
Now I usually live out of hotel rooms. I’m always on the go and constantly have to change plans when auditions pop up at the last minute. I love the excitement of it all.
What is the best and worst part of being an actress?
Best Part: meeting new people who are passionate and creative. Worst Part: Having to wear makeup.
How do you prepare for a role?
I score my script which means I write all of my inner thoughts for each line. Then I create a backstory journal which is just a fun notebook full of experiences and memories of that character.
Tell us about your work in projects like “Cheer for Your Life,” and “Just What the Doctor Ordered?”
I had a blast filming Cheer For Your Life. I was a professional cheerleader so it was a dream to combine two of my passions into one project.
Just What The Doctor Ordered was one of my first lead roles. I was so nervous but also excited to work with Eric Roberts. I had the best time on that set.
What other projects you have been part of?
Who is Killing The Cheerleaders, Spring Break Nightmare, Twisted Sister, Reflect, Slotherhouse, Insane Like Me, Pom Pom Murders, Killer Cheerleader, and lots of others!
What kind of roles do you like or would like to play and why?
I love taking on characters that challenge me. Characters with lots of inner conflict and pain are fun to dive into. I love tackling the darker projects.
If you weren’t famous, what would you be up to right now?
Probably a dance mom.
Can you name 3 actors/actresses you would love to work with?
Jennifer Aniston
Sydney Sweeney
Jennifer Lawrence
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
When people reach out to me and let me know how my films have touched them or spoken to them in a time of need.
What’s your advice for the newer actors?
Be aggressive and never take no for an answer.
What would say are the greatest lessons you learned so far in this business?
Don’t listen to anyone just keep going. Trust your gut.
Now tell us about your loungewear company?
Badkiss is a women’s empowerment loungewear company! We created #teambad to go along with our brand. Teambad is for the women who never settle. Our brand is cute, sassy, and unique.
What are the challenges you face as an entrepreneur?
So many. Long hours, endless work. Coming up with new unique ideas to market our brand and stay relevant is hard. Trial and error is our friend. I live by the motto Shoot, Fire, Aim.
How often do you create new collections?
Every few months.
Favorite look from your collection and why?
Pink tracksuit because I LOVE pink and live in sweatpants.
What would you say a color that resonates with you the most and why?
Pink because I’m spunky and loud.
What is different from your loungewear to other brands in a very competitive market?
Our brand is unique because of the voice behind it. Our sayings are original and fun. #TEAMBAD is something that separates us as well. Badkiss brings women together because we are so powerful when we stand as one!
How would your best friend describe you?
Crazy, loud, brave
If you are a book, what would be the title of the book and why?
Laughing Through The Tears
Because I feel like I cry more than most people but it always ends in laughing at myself then I keep it moving. This industry is tough and I’m sensitive but I always bounce back.
What advice would you give to your younger self and why?
Use your voice. I feel like it has taken me a long time to find my voice and use it. It’s so easy for women to stay quiet and not ask for what we want but I find that as I use my voice, more great things come my way.
What book should every entrepreneur read?
Who Says You Can’t, You do and 12 steps to 1 million, and all of Tim Grovers books or David Goggins.
