Check out our interview with singer-songwriter Brooke Sause who just released her new single, “How Long.” The pop-flavored acoustic-driven ballad chronicles the search for clarity in the aftermath of a heartbreak.
Brooke knows exactly how to make music that will tug at your heartstrings. After songwriting with her sister Breana for years, Brooke started releasing their music in 2021 and almost immediately found success, organically amassing over 100K on one of her early singles, “fallin for you.”

Hi Brooke! Please tell us a little about yourself.
Hi! I’m Brooke Sause and I’m a 22-year-old musician living in Florida. In addition to my music career, I’m also currently in law school.
How would you describe yourself in 3 words?
Hardworking, artistic, optimistic
How did you get your start making music?
I’ve always loved creating music all of my life. My sister, Breana has too. We started getting serious about it when Covid happened, and we were like, “why don’t we actually try to record something?” Basically, ever since we recorded our first song, we absolutely fell in love with the whole process, and collaborating with others.
How has music changed your life?
Music has changed my life because it’s giving me an outlet to pour all of my emotions into. It’s also giving me the opportunity to meet so many amazing people.
How would you describe your sound in 3 words?
Organic, harmonic, sweet
Who influences your sound and why did you choose to make music?
We have so many different influences, I’m not sure if I can just think of one. Taylor Swift comes to mind and Stevie Nicks. I chose to make music because it’s something I love to do and it’s something I can do with my sister which makes it super fun.
Do you play any instruments?
Piano, ukulele, and I’m currently learning to play guitar!
Tell us about your new single “How Long.” What’s the story behind the song?
During a conversation with my sister and friend Lindsay, we were telling each other about times we have been lied to by people who claimed to love us. The conversation kept circling back to the idea that these people said “I love you” while acting in a way that very clearly showed they weren’t being truthful. This inspired the theme of my song, which poses the question, “how long was ‘I love you’ a lie?” It’s impossible for it to have been genuine love the whole time, and that’s what we wanted to convey through the song. This shared experience of betrayal and heartbreak was the driving force behind the creation of the song.
And tell us about the success of your previous single “Fallin for You?”
Honestly TikTok was a massive reason for the success of “Fallin for You.”
What is the most rewarding part of being an artist?
Finding people who love and connect to my music.
If you weren’t in music, what would you be up to right now?
Since I am also in law school, I would probably just be doing that full time.
What would you say are the greatest lessons you’ve learned so far?
Always look at the bright side of things. Your mind is so powerful and oftentimes it’s all about just changing your perspective.
What advice would you give to your younger self and why?
I would tell myself to keep trying my best and that everything is going to work out just fine.
What’s next for Brooke Sause in 2023?
Just finished my first year of law school and I’m hoping to put out my first EP soon!
How would you describe your fashion style?
I would say my style is pretty laid back. I like to be comfortable, but it’s usually pretty hot in Florida so I end up in a crop top most of the time.
What is your own definition of happiness?
My definition of happiness is being surrounded by people who truly care and support me and doing the same for them. It’s also being able to do something fulfilling in life.
If you could meet someone, living or dead, who would it be and why?
Freddie Mercury because I would’ve loved to see him perform live. He was a genius.
Best advice you’ve ever given?
People will only change if they want to. Love them as they are or let them go.
Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years from now?
Honestly, I’m not sure. I feel like I’m so young and there’s so many different roads I can end up on. I’ll always be working on music, but law is such a big part of my life.
What is your favorite song to belt out in the car or at karaoke?
“Zero to Hero” from the Hercules movie.
