Describe your sound in 3 words?
Bold, energetic, and empowering
Who influenced you and why did you choose to make music?
I’m heavily influenced by a lot of music from the 90s. Blur, NIN, Hole, No doubt. Music has always been something I’ve done, I can’t really remember a time that it wasn’t what I wanted to do.
Do you play any instruments?
I play guitar and piano, and I’m starting to get into learning the drums!
Do you ever get nervous?
I don’t think it’s nerves, but I always get the butterflies before playing a show. I think it’s just excitement and my body’s way of letting me know it’s go time.
What’s the story behind the song?
It was sort of inspired by the Los Angeles music scene, and the way I’ve noticed the effect this place has had on the people around me. There’s a lot of ego and clout chasing here, it’s pretty embarrassing. I’ve seen it turn even the coolest of people into fame hungry ego-maniacs.
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
The most rewarding part of doing this is getting to say what I want from my chest. I’m a very honest and forthcoming person in my day-to-day life, but music allows me the space to really dig in to my feelings about the world around me, and turn it into art.
What book should every entrepreneur read?
The 4-Hour Work Week by Tim Ferriss
What advice would you give to your younger self and why?
Stop comparing yourself to other people. Live your life like it belongs to you, and turn inward when you need to know which way to go.
How would your best friend describe you?
They would probably say I’m fearless, honest, and that I love to laugh.
If you are a book, what would be the title of the book and why?
“It’s Not That Serious” – because it really isn’t.
What’s next for LUNA AURA in 2023?
I’m really looking forward to releasing more music and hitting the road with Corey Taylor in the Fall!
What is your favorite healthy food?
Sushi is the best because it doesn’t feel like you’re eating healthy food!
And your favorite cheat food?
Anytime I want to reward myself, I’ll pick up Cajun/Creole or soul food. It just feels like a warm (spicy) hug.
How would you explain your fashion style?
I typically range between an editorial grunge look and a 15-year-old boy.
What is your own definition of happiness?
I would define happiness as peace with oneself. Happiness is not something that can be chased or found, it’s really just about gratitude and embracing the present moment – and really really good friends.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
I would love to meet Maya Angelou. She was a fearless woman, and reading her work has been such a healing experience. It rewired my brain for the better.
What would be the dream holiday, and who would you go with?
My dream holiday would be the south of Spain with my fiancé Alex. I would be happy to be anywhere with him though.
Best advice ever given?
Take time to get to know yourself and what you really want out of life. Knowing yourself will allow you to live with purpose.
Do you support any charity?
Los Angeles Youth Network
Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years from now?
I really take everything one day at a time, but I’m hoping to be releasing more music, touring, and playing festivals!
What is your favorite song to belt out in the car/for karaoke?
Say My Name by Destiny’s Child
What do you think of Social Media?
It’s for the birds.
