Hi Madison, please tell us a little about you?
Hi! Thank you so much for the interview! I am a pop singer/songwriter born and raised in Los Angeles! I have a strong passion for feminism and enjoy playing tennis. My favorite thing to do is travel!
Describe your sound in 3 words?
Emotional, autobiographical, and fun
Who influences you and why did you choose to make music?
I am influenced by a lot! Musically, Taylor Swift and Coldplay are at the top of the list. They are constantly re-inventing themselves and their sound, all while staying true to the emotions and quality of the music. They make you listen and feel something. That is the same thing I want to do. I started writing music at 11 years old and it has always been a way for me to express my emotions! So I hope to make people feel that.
Do you play any instruments?
I play guitar and piano! I always run to my instruments to write. It is always the most peaceful, intimate moment I have with myself. Just me and my instruments.
Do you ever get nervous?
I get nervous before shows. No matter how many I have done, it doesn’t get any easier. I’m sure it is a lot of excitement! But also a bit of pressure! I just want to do the best I can for all the people who were nice enough to come. I just want to make people feel good and have fun.
Tell us about your new single “God Laughs?”
“God Laughs” sums up me as an artist. It is emotionally driven and doesn’t hold back anything. Lyrically, I wrote it on my piano during a very tough period. I was dealing with a break-up and trying to make sense of it. Sonically, it sounds so expressive and you can feel that as the electric guitars ring throughout. It truly feels like an epic adventure and I am so proud of it.
What’s the story behind the song?
This song is about fate. It is accepting that not everything is in our control. I was thinking about the future that I had planned with someone and how unfair it was that I would no longer get to experience it. I was reflecting on all the plans that we had made that we wouldn’t get to do.
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
I just love the fact that my art is forever in the world. One day, I hope to play my music and videos for my grandkids. I love how my music is a timeline of so many important events in my life and I can listen back and enjoy the journey that I am on.
What advice would you give to your younger self and why?
I would tell her to stop worrying so much. Enjoy every single moment.
How would you explain your fashion style?
I think my style is timeless. I love a pair of vintage Levis with a vintage designer bag. Those things never go out of style! I want to own things that I know I’ll still appreciate in a decade.
What is your own definition of happiness?
Happiness is having hope and walking with lightness, contentment. and peace. It is living authentically and believing that everything will be okay.
Best advice ever given?
“Be nice to people, but don’t let them walk all over you.”
Where we can follow you?
@madisonmargot on all platforms!
What’s next for Madison Margot in 2023?
I have a show on August 18th at The Viper Room! But that is all at the moment. I think “God Laughs” taught me to not make too many plans. I am just going to ride the wave and let it lead me to where I need to be.
