Hi Keshia, please tell us a little about you?
I am a Los Angeles-based digital content creator that is obsessed with entertainment, pop culture, and theatre! As a Chinese American, representation in the media and on stage is super important to me, and I’m grateful for opportunities that allow me to be a voice for the AAPI community in the work that I do.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Determined, passionate, and creative
Who is your role model?
There are so many people I look up to, but currently it is Olivia Rodrigo! I love how raw and authentic she is with her music and expressing herself. It’s so refreshing to see someone so honest being who they are… and I am obsessed with her style and fashion sense!
How did you get started into the business?
I started my Instagram account almost 7 years ago. I loved dressing up for my trips to theme parks and one of my really good friends encouraged me to share my outfits on Instagram. She told me that I was really talented and needed to share it with the world. I was a little hesitatnt at first, but she told me, “You never know where this could lead!” and I’m glad she did. I’m so grateful for all of the amazing opportunities I’ve been able to be a part of because I decided to give all of this a go!
Tell us about your work as a blogger and content creator?
I love sharing about fun and unique things to do all around Los Angeles! I feel grateful to be able to cover so many cool events and shows and getting to share about them with my community. I balance being a content creator with my regular full-time job, so at times it can be difficult to juggle, but I truly feel like I am living my best life!
How has this changed your life?
Being a content creator has really pushed me outside of my comfort zone. I am quite shy, but throughout this process I have gained so much confidence in myself and who I am. I’ve learned to build relationships with brands and with fellow creators, as well as with my community who has been so supportive of me and my dreams. I never would have thought in my wildest dreams that I’d have done all of the things I’ve been able to do up to this point!
What kind of topics do you like to blog about?
I have always been obsessed with pop culture and theatre since I was a young girl, so naturally, it’s what I love to blog about!
How often do you upload new content?
I generally upload new content at least 5 times a week, depending on what’s going on throughout the week. On slower weeks, I’ll post less, but I typically like to post soon after I attend an event or show so that my community has the best chance of getting to experience what I attended as well!
What do you think is the secret to having a successful blog and social media accounts?
I think that the secret to having a successful blog and social media accounts is consistency and persistance. It’s also super important to know why you’re doing all of this because it’s so easy to get lost in the shuffle of numbers and external validation. I think as long as you stay true to who you are and your “why,” you’ll be able to keep going and achieve your dreams.
When you started your account, did you expect such a success?
When I started my account, I didn’t expect to be where I am today! Sometimes I still have to pinch myself because I look back and can’t believe how far I’ve come.
What mindsets helped make you so successful?
I’ve always told myself not to give up and that there are multiple ways to achieve the same goal! I really try to focus on myself and my own growth vs. comparing to other peoples’ journeys. I’m also really lucky to have an amazing support system who helps keep me grounded and reminds me of who I am when I’m feeling lost.
What would you say are the greatest lessons you learned so far?
One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned is that it’s okay to ask for help! I always feel bad to ask people for help, but there is so much I wouldn’t have been able to do without the help of my super supportive husband and friends. I think another great lesson I’ve learned is to shout your dreams into the universe! I strongly believe in manifestation and while my dreams may seem out of reach, I think everything we do helps us get one step closer to achieving our goals and desires!
If you are a book, what would be the title of the book and why?
“We’ll Figure It Out on the Way” because I feel like I’m going with the flow with wherever life takes me!
Any advice to entrepreneurs out there?
Always think about how you can serve your community and what’s in it for them! I think the best businesses service their audiences’ needs and that’s what makes them successful.
What book should every entrepreneur read?
My boss gave me a copy of “Influencer: Building Your Personal Brand in the Age of Social Media” by Brittany Hennessy and I found it to be extremely helpful for starting to think about my social media platforms with a business mindset!
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
The most rewarding part of my work is getting to connect with my community! It’s so cool to be able to meet so many people who have similar interests – whether we’re geeking out over the latest trend, or supporting each other through rougher days, I’m grateful to share this space with so many amazing people!
What advice would you give to your younger self and why?
To not take things so personally. Most times other peoples’ behavior says more about them than about you! And in regards to rejection – a “no” doesn’t mean never – it just means you’ll be one step closer to the right “yes”! I was always really hard on myself as a child and oftentimes, I still am as an adult. I know now that my best is enough and as long as I can find validation within, that’s what matters in the long run.
What is your favorite healthy food?
Right now, I really love salmon and zucchini!
And your favorite cheat food?
Sushi, french fries, and mac and cheese!
How would you explain your fashion style?
My fashion style is very colorful and fun! I’m very inspired by 80s, 90s, and early 00s fashion and it’s been fun getting to reinterpret trends from those eras and modernize them for today.
How would your best friend describe you?
I had to text my best friends for this one! One says, “intelligent, compassionate, and a fashionista!” The other says, “fiercely loyal, big-hearted, and you succeed at anything you set your mind to!”
What’s next for Keshia Sih-Tseng in the last months of 2023?
I’m hoping to finish out the year strong with a ton of fun events in the coming months, but also learning to find balance and rest in between it all!
What is your own definition of happiness?
Happiness to me is being content and at peace with where you’re at.
What is your idea of a perfect Sunday?
My idea of a perfect Sunday would include sleeping in, grabbing a yummy lunch with my husband and pup, picking up boba from one of my favorite places, and spending the rest of the day relaxing at home and watching TV!
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
I would love to meet Taylor Swift! We’re almost the same age and I admire her drive and passion in the industry. I think she’s a smart businesswoman and super savvy, and I love seeing how much she’s accomplished and will continue to achieve throughout her career!
Best advice ever given?
To invest in myself and to learn to let go when it’s time to. At times I can get so caught up trying to take care of everyone else, and I’ve learned to prioritize myself in all aspects. Investing in myself and learning to let go has helped open doors and make space for new opportunities, and it’s also helped with my mental health and wellbeing.
