Hi Spencer, please tell us a little about yourself.
Hi! Thank you so much for taking the time to interview me! The best way to describe myself would be that I’m just a normal kid! I do my school work, hang out with my friends, and love a good strawberry acai refresher from Starbucks!
Describe yourself in three words.
Kind, optimistic, and hard-working!
How did you get started in acting?
I am the youngest of four kids! I have an older sister Avery and two older brothers, Nolan and Theo. They were all child actors so I just kind of fell into it! My older sister still loves to act but my brothers are ???? sports now! I got an agent when I was four and I never looked back!
How has this changed your life?
Acting has changed my life because it has opened a whole new world. It’s like, I have my regular normal life and then I have my acting life. I keep them very separate. I have met so many best friends through the years due to this industry. It is nice because we just understand one another. It has also changed my life because I get to travel to different places when I film things!
What is the best and worst part of being an actress?
The best part of being an actress is having the opportunity to meet so many amazing people from all over the world. The worst part of being an actress is the rejection, especially when you are so close to booking a project you are excited about!
How do you prepare for a role?
I prepare by doing lots of imagination work!
Tell us about your work in the DreamWorks’ enchanting series “Dew Drop Diaries” season 2?
I play Harper Ryan! In the latest season, Harper gets up to lots of adventures that are resolved with the help of Eden and the Dew Drops – from accidentally leaving Wilford (her pet) at home, on her way to the Fairhaven Pet Get Together to finding the missing ingredient for her mom’s favorite dessert on Mother’s Day and getting to the bottom of a mysterious noise in her bedroom. The reason I really love this show is because it depicts diverse characters with different body types, abilities, talents, personalities, backgrounds, and interests that accurately represent the beautiful, colorful world we live in
What other projects have you been part of?
I played the series regular role of Jojo in Fancy Nancy on Disney Junior. I was also a recurring guest star on Puppy Dog Pals. I loved working for Disney! I was on This is Us, The Mayor, Chicago PD, David S. Pumpkins on SNL, and others!
What kind of roles do you like or would like to play, and why?
I love playing complex characters with lots of layers! I also enjoy comedy!
What is the most rewarding part of your work? I would say the most rewarding part of my work is getting to travel and meet so many different fabulous people. I had a shoot in Vancouver where I lived for a while. I got to explore that city and try different foods! I loved Granville Island. I have made so many close friends in this industry that I never would have had the chance to meet! We Facetime pretty much every night!
What’s your advice for the newer actors?
It will sound so cliche, but my advice for new actors would be to never give up.
What would you say are the greatest lessons you have learned so far in this business?
I have learned how to live with rejection and be able to move forward!
Now talking about dancing. Any advice for aspiring dancers?
Train, train, train.
What do you love most about dancing?
When I dance, I feel free. I am able to express myself and move my entire body. It is actually very similar to acting.
What type of dance do you like best?
That is a tough question to answer! I love hip-hop, contemporary, and jazz. But I train in ballet, modern, tap, and ballroom.
How would your best friend describe you?
They would say I’m a little crazy, funny, and very loving.
If you were a book, what would be the title of the book and why?
If I were a book, it would be one of those choose your own adventure type of stories! My life is all over the place, not predictable at all. One never knows where I am or what I am getting into…just like a choose your own adventure!
What book should every entrepreneur read?
I am not sure, I guess someone needs to tell me!
What’s next for Spencer Moss in 2024?
I have a new short film coming out called Killer Set. Killer Set is a window into the life of a sociopathic funeral home director and her quest for adult friendship. I play the chilling young version of the lead character, Susan.
What is your own definition of happiness?
My own definition of happiness is being together with the ones I love.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
I would love to be able to meet Michael Jackson. I have seen MJ the Musical four times, literally obsessed! I think he was a brilliant dancer and I wish I could have danced with him!
Best advice ever given?
I have been given a lot of advice in my thirteen years. Something that has stuck with me is to try to live as if we are not guaranteed tomorrow. I always try my hardest.
Do you support any charities?
I have a small donation that comes directly out of my checking account every single month to the ACLU, which makes me a guardian of liberty! Ha! I have also supported the ADL and the ASPCA.
Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years?
In five years I will be eighteen and graduating high school. It is hard to say where I see myself in five years, but I hope to be equally as passionate about acting, dancing, and volunteering.
Favorite song? Why?
My current fave is Young and Beautiful by Lana Del Rey. I have an amazing contemporary solo choreographed to that song that I will be competing in this season!
What do you think of social media?
Social media is a double-edged sword. I love being able to stay in touch with my friends and family all over the country, but it can also be a massive time suck!
